The Old College Try

Poetry By: L A Gardner
Young adult

a lot of people told me many all-too-enthusiastic cliches before I left for college. but, I had my own questions that these pep-talks could not answer.

Just be confident and you'll do well

But inside I'm scared as Hell

Just be yourself and you'll do fine

How much polish before I shine?

It's easy if you play the game

But what if I don't feel the same?

The beginning is the place to start

What if I can't play the part?

Just remember to always try

You can bleed, just don't die
