Gnarled trees waiting on barren land,
Drooping over cracked ground,
Scarcely touching the dry earth.
Cruel ocean waiting impatiently,
Ready to sweep away swimmers,
To pull them down into nothingness,
To crush their hopes and dreams.
Suffering unexpected hurt,
Preparing for the worst,
Still praying for the best.
The dark days have come,
And they ain’t going no-where
Not moving an inch
Not ‘til they’ve taken lives.
World stumbling to a stop,
Darkness overpowering the light.
Frightful thoughts raining from every soul.
The dark days have come,
And hope backs off into the trees,
Never to be found again.
Memories fade to black,
Tears crash down,
Life ceases to exist,
Dreams turn to muck.
Doomed.
