Love Destined to Rot

A kiss of your lips,
Caress of your skin,
Adoration of your soul,
Your heart, I will win.

I look to your face,
Seeking love from your eyes,
Your vacant expression,
Now my heart's demise.

I look back to ponder,
"Where did I go wrong?"
I remember last Sunday,
As we danced to our song.

Your eyes were aglow,
Your feet quick and light,
Your smile was easy,
I basked with delight.

But I remember now,
Your eyes so content,
Were upon someone else,
Which now I lament.

For that happiest of looks,
In which I now see,
Was for the love of your life,
Whom I fear is not me.

My heart in pieces,
I tell you to go,
I stay strong and steady,
My grief you won't know.

I pray that she wants you,
For if she does not,
You will be where I stand,
Your love destined to rot.
