It's so hard for me to tell,

What I really am inside.

After all the pain,

And all the sorrow,

I've been so badly wounded,

That nothing is clear to me anymore.

But I do know one thing.

This battle I'm fighting,

This never-ending war,

Has caused too much hurt.

Not only to me,

But the ones I love.

They all say they know,

That there is good inside me,

And that I'm a good person.

But that's because none of them know the truth.

No one knows,

About this monster trapped inside me.

It hunts down those with broken hearts,

And feeds off their fear, and lies.

Making them grow stronger and stronger,

Even though it swears they're fading away.

You will never know of the building pain,

Until it's too late to reverse it.

I was blinded by this curse,

For so long that I feel like,

It's all I've ever known.

In all my sorrow,

I never even realized what was right in front of me.

I didn't know what I had.

I had everything in the world,

But still I wanted more.

I didn't realize until I lost everything I loved,

That I had had everything I'd ever wanted.

If only I had opened my eyes.

Now I realize,

That same monster is comsuming you,

Just as it comsumed me.

You try to hide it,

But I can see it in your eyes.

It's not too late,

For you to rid of it.

When I look at you,

I see myself.

I'm reminded of my nightmares,

And how they came alive.

You can't hide the pain.

You can't conseal your fear.

I'm losing you,

To the monster that lost me.

I've lost all control,

And am a prisoner of my own demise.

I'm silently screaming out to you.

I could hear you when you whispered,

So softly to me.

But you can't even hear my pleading screams,

As I try to find a way to reverse your curse.

How can I make you see,

That I would do anything,

To take that monster away,

And bring it back upon myself instead.

Even though it may seem,

Like I'm out of sight,

I will always be standing right beside you.

I will fight for you,

And slay this monster once and for all.

This monster inside you--inside me.
