i quit "the dream"

it meant so much to you

but so little to me

you didn't yell

you didn't scream

you weren't upset

or so it seemed

your comments would slip out

unexpectedly at first

still the things you didn't say

were by far the worst

you said that i'd regret

what i did

said i didn't understand

i was just a kid

but you were the ones

who didn't get it

when all the coaches

would throw a fit

because we lost a game

all of us were expected

to hang our heads in shame

but sitting on the bench

i didn't feel like part of the team

it ruined my hopes

crushed "the dream"
