This used to be our secret.
Now I'm hiding out here alone.

Bill was hiding out at the little club house that was hidden away in the woods. He and his ex had come here often in the past. Both to make out and to study.
Can't help but read our names on the wall.
And wash them off the stone.

They had written their names with chalk so Bill was easily able to smudge it until their names was unreadable.
I trusted you in every way.
But not enough to make you stay.
Bill had trusted her with personal thoughts, feelings and his love. But it wasn't enough for her. He stood up and wandered out. He walked around for a little bit with no particular destination. At one point when Bill looked up he saw his ex.
Turn around.
I"ve lost my ground.

He thought hoping she would turn around.
Come and rescue me.
I'm burning can't you see?

How could she not see? Bill wondered as he reached out but dare not touch her.
Come and rescue me.
Only you can set me free.
Only she could break this chain that held him to their bittersweet past.
Come and rescue me.
Rescue me.
Rescue me
.
Bill mouthed to himself slowing down so that he dropped further away from her.
We lied when we were dreaming.
Our crying was just fake.
Their dreams of each other weren't real. They'd lied to each other. Even when the two had broken up. Neither one of their tears had been heartfelt. Both were glad they were freed from each other. At least by society's standards. But she still haunted Bill's thoughts like a nightmare.
I wish you could deny it.
Here and today.

To deny the truth she had told Bill. That she was happier without him.
My S.O.S on radio.
The only chance to let you know.
What I fear.
Can you hear?
His song played over the radios they walked by. Did she know the song was meant for her? Did she not hear it? Or did she not care?
Come and rescue me.
I am burning can't you see?
The burning pain of heartbreak in his chest seemed to be eating away at him.
Come and rescue me.
Only you can set me free.

Set me free from this cage made of the bittersweet and burning, aching past, Bill begged her silently.
Come and rescue me.
Rescue me.
Bill hummed along to the next part.
You and me.
You and me.
You and me.
He finally turned and went back to the club house he'd been in earlier. For awhile all Bill did was stare off into space. But then suddenly something happened.
The walls are coming closer.
My senses fade away.

His sight and hearing faded away. The walls seem to close in on him.
I'm haunted by your shadow.
Bill felt his ex's presence within the small confine.
I reach out to feel your face.
You're not here.
Are you here?

He reached out to cup her cheek but her face vanished. Bill even though temporarily blind tried to feel for her. But his ex was no longer here.
Come and rescue me.
Rescue me.
Come and rescue me.

He scribbled the words all over the walls without seeing the wall or the words he wrote.
I'm burning can't you see?
Come and rescue me.

Bill dropped the chalk and huddled into a ball. A fierce burning came over his body. It seemed to be aimed mostly at his chest.
Only you can set me free.
Come and rescue me.
Rescue me.
Only she had the key to free him. To rescue him from this misery.
You and me.
You and me.
Rescue me.
You and me.
Set me free.
His thoughts were becoming incoherent and seemingly random.
"Rescue me."
Came the soft plea from Bill as a tear ran down his cheek. Rescue me from the pain he thought. It burned too hot for him to touch. It seemed it would stay there until it cooled to become his cold heart.
