Its Me Again, Wanted To Know If Youre Still There

Short story By: AugustWoden32
Young adult

I left a letter by the door every week. When I went back to check the next week no one had read it or even picked it up. I took the old one home with me and put a new letter in its place. These are the handful of letters.

So, it's me. I wanted to know if you're still there. I wanted to ask you if you and...that girl were still together. I have some free time on Thursday afternoon, why don't you swing by my place? We can grab a bite down at BOZOs. You still like that place right?

Jessica(Sticky Note on door)

So, it's me again. I wanted to know if you're still there. You didn't show up, but then I saw you didn't touch the Sticky Note either. Please call.

Jessica(Sticky Note on door)

So, it's me again. I wanted to know if you're even alive. I'm just joking. You know that I'm here for you right? You can come back. I didn't move any of your things, I left everything where you had left it before. John, please call this number: 1-445-****. It's Linda B*******'s new number, I know you've been wanting to call her for a while. I know I never gave you her number becuase I wasn't okay with you going out with her just then. But please, call her at least if you won't call me. She lives at 1*** G**** street.

Jessica(Sealed envelope)

So, it's me again. I wanted to see if you even pick up your mail. Do you have a phone? Do you have enough money for food? I tried to get ahold of the super, but he was drunk. I've placed sixty in with a few coupons, a card that hold fifty minutes for a track phone, and a pin from high school. I thought you might want it.

Jessica(Sealed package)

So, it's me again. I wanted to see if you even took the money like you used to. But I guess you're not there. I got the super to try to open your door. The key fit, but you must've jammed it somehow. Please, please John, for everyone that loves you. You don't have to stop. We will pay for everything and we will give you anything else, but please just come home. I still love you and now more than ever I need to have you be safe. I called Linda to ask if you called her. She told me what happen. Because you slapped her and then she called the cops on you, is that why you decided to live with the rats?

Jessica(Folded letter placed in the apartment)

So, it's me again. For the last time. I wanted to know if you're still there. You're not, I guess. And I guess there's no reason to even write this out and place it at your door. Linda told me you had her number all along and that you did call after I stormed out on you. She said that you were very sweet. She wanted to know if you and her could go out some time. You're not there anymore, so I guess I'll have to tell her myself about the apartment. I have Pooch here, sitting right next to me. I still can't believe you kept her all this time. I thought you just sold her for some quick cash like the John I know. Bobby E******** called as well, I guess a couple of days before I started writing to you he had gotten to know you pretty well. He said that you were a great kid for being a father at your age. He told me to tell you that you did a great job, go home and gets some rest.

Jessica(Crumpled letter in the waste bin)

^^^John P***** was found dead at the Hill Mount Motel in room 14. He over dosed on alcohol and drugs. His family, Jessica P***** and their two month old daughter Nycy P***** attended the funeral at Marmount Cemetary. The reception was held at BOZOs afterwards. John was institutionalized a year earlier due to halusanations of his own death^^^
