57. Blockheads.
Petal was nervous or didn't want to talk about something.
She sang the funky songs she liked. How many boys
had been introduced to Ian Dury this way?
He didn't wander off, and she didn't leave and
maybe that was something. Or not. More lyrics.
Back home, the lone Ginko tree had turned yellow
and left a magic golden halo around itself.
He stepped reverently, as if into a sepulcher, to slowly
slam his brow against the unyielding trunk.
