A young woman in love talks about the life she and her boyfriend lead. I don't really know where this came from, the idea just popped into my head. It's nothing great or extraordinary.

He gripped me tight, the sweat like glue between us. I could feel his chest rising and falling with every breath he took. I could feel how much he needed me. It was like he was a lost, scared child who found his mommy. He snuggled his head into my neck, and I could feel the warmth of his body on my skin.

The sun was streaking through a crack in the curtains, and dust particles were shining like stars in the beam. My room smelled of sweat, sex and vanilla. I lifted my head slightly and noticed clothes scattered all over the floor, along with other junk I tended to throw there. The rose wall paper always looked pretty in the morning light, even though it was ripping in several places. I couldn't tell you why I liked that wall paper, I just did.

I looked down at Adam's face, soft and glimmering in the light. He looked so peaceful while sleeping. His black hair matted to his face. I smiled to myself, remembering the night before. Adam had come home from work last night practically in tears, and that had somehow led to this. It didn't surprise me, and I didn't mind; it was just how Adam was. I looked back at him and caught sight of the tattoo on his wrist; the one he and I got together. I looked down at my own wrist, and smiled. When we turned eighteen, we went out and got matching tattoos together. A diamond, that's what we decided on. The diamond is the strongest mineral in the world, just like my friendship with Adam.

I stroked his back gently as he inhaled and squeezed me again. I tried to hold in my giggle but couldn't help it. Men are at their weakest and most vulnerable when they're sleeping, and it's cute to watch them be so dependent on another human being in their unconscious state.

Adam and I had known each other since we were freshmen in high school. I was new, he was an outcast; it was like it was meant to be. We became partners in crime; getting detention, pulling pranks, sneaking out, that kind of stuff. Then graduation came, and we were both so happy to be out of there. Neither one of us wanted to go to college, not right away at least. So we decided to travel and see the world. We both had saved up money from working the past couple of years, and we had enough to travel through a couple of states and get an apartment. We traveled all the way from Kentucky to New York; it was a place we both always wanted to go. We were living our dream.

I worked at a bookstore and diner, and Adam worked at a pet store and garage. I know what you're thinking; we both work two jobs and still live in some tiny apartment. Yes, we know. We like it this way. It's just me, Adam and our tiny little apartment.

Adam stirred beside me, and I looked down at his beautiful face. He slowly opened his eyes, bringing his hand up to shield the sun. He gave me a lazy smile, and I returned it. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. I laughed and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He drew me in closer and we snuggled into the covers.

"Good morning my love." He said hoarsely.

"Good morning sunshine." I whispered.
