Telling the truth is not an ability that many people can say they have. Curtis definitely isn't one that can. He has been labeled a compulsive liar, cheater, and even a back stabber by certain higher class people. He doesn't try to make himself, or his life, look better in anyone else's eyes, nor does he think that he's better than any anyone around him. He has a very hard time telling the truth so he makes up little white lies to make it easier for him to tell people things. He is hated because of this.
Molly, on the other hand, cannot lie to save her life. She makes herself feel guilty when she lies until she tells the truth. She is also very perceptible when it comes to feelings and how one's speech or behavior is presented. This makes it very easy for her to pick out the liars.
Curtis and Molly were both seniors in high school, although Molly is a little younger than some of the other girls, being only 17. Curtis is of average height, skinny, and somewhat muscular. He has to keep his build for the sport of wrestling. Molly is a little shorter than the average high schooler, she is very slender and quite beautiful in some people's eyes.
Molly and Curtis started to become intimate with each other. Their relationship started out very smooth, with no fighting. For the first in his life, Curtis found it very easy to tell the truth, he was convinced Molly was a gift from God. One of Curtis's lies was that he isn't very religious when, in reality, he believed heavily in religion. While Molly is more of an Atheist. She figured, for the sake of happiness, that if she lied and told Curtis she's also religious, then it might make the relationship easier to put up with. She was wrong. After constant church visits, bible readings, and prayers, Molly had enough. She told Curtis the truth, which included that she didn't want to be with him anymore, then left.
A week later, Molly was reading the newspaper. When she got to the obituaries, she saw one with Curtis's picture above it. It had said that he killed himself and that in a note he left, he said that he did it because of a broken heart and spirit.
