"Look up." He said as he looked at me. I listened like I always did. The stars shined brightly above me.

"stars." I say.

"yep" he replies. "The stars are ours. They will always be there for you. All you have to do is look up." he smiled as he grabbed my little hand.

"Granddaddy, you'll always be there. If I have you I don't need the stars." I look at him and smile. Knowing it was the truth.

"I won't always be around little one"

"what do you mean?" I ask getting scared. "I am only going to be gone for 3 years. But I'll come back I promise." I was so small.

"I know you will sweetie. But every one must die at some point. You know that I am sick. So the stars are ours and no one else."

"Our stars. "I smile as I look at him.

"Only our stars" He replies as he hugs me. He picks up a leaf from the ground.

"Another one for our collection?" he asks.

"Yep." I say happily.

"I love you" He says as we head back inside, hand in hand.

"I love you too." I race off, running inside.

Later that week... I left for another country. I was gone for 3 years. Then I got the message form my mom. My Grandfather had died. I didn't even get to go to his funeral. I was 7 years old when we agreed that the stars are ours. I am 14 and the stars are still ours. He watches over me. But I can't hep but cry. I had no idea that was our last private talk. It hurts me inside. There is so much I should have said
