This is the first part of a true story about A girl I had...
Boardroom to Boredom
Oh great corporate one, you have made me feel safe
since the day I began as a tender young waif
you’ve breast-fed me salary and shares all these years
pension and benefits; a car with six gears
I labour so hard in this polite company
charging our clients a fat hefty fee
I get stuck in – smack right up to my tongue
because in the grand scheme, I’ll never be stung
Striving for silver and going for gold
I know you’ll look after me when I am old
You’ll give me that pension and gold handshake too
then you’ll pay lip service for all I did do
So now in retirement, quite out of sorts
I pad my existence with fashionable sport
transfixed to the TV heckling titled Mike Tubbs
Swaggering, rotund, parade masonic clubs
End in the nineteenth with gin and a tonic
Making great small talk so very plutonic
Wearing the signatory light yellow attire
You too can do this when you retire
