And the washed up ice cakes have no place on the shelf in winter

The dollops of sugar seem to taunt me by the counter side

As I dream of a warm dream in a warm bed by the warm stove

"Another one in the oven, Mina!" pattered up the stairs

The bounce of waves hits me precisely where I didn't feel

Like climbing the long journey to the planks and sticking my hands

Back inside of that hot bottomed house and being taunted by sugar

That whispered itself up and all around the sides of the mass

Ran up the sponge like a marathon smoothed by a spatula

With bumps and shells and fondant slivers that were often milk white

But sometimes colored like a rainbow and sprinkled with desire

And so the case and facts and moral of the story is that

I just could not will myself out of my sleep and humble rest

To climb the planks to the hot oven and bake another cake.
