So says my priest, I’m in what he calls the

“Honeymoon” phase, though I swear I’m single,

And being gay, I swear, that way it’ll stay.

But things weren’t always Honeymoon-like:

I got a love, but realized soon enough

I was already captive to Jesus

and His beloved Holy Catholic Church.

She had me from the start, and when I tried to

Leave her; my heart, aching, split into two.

I swear I’m single, but “one” and “only,”

I swear, do not mean lost and lonely: no!

Swearing covers unbelief, this is too true.

But my unbelief is at my belief:

Incredulity at my credulity…

Amazed that such a One descended to

Make one out of myself and Him who loves,

Is Love, is and will always be, my Love.

Let me tell you how generous He is.

My Love gives to me all the time: He gives,

Gives life, gives faith and, being Love, goes on

Himself giving Himself in the Blessed Sacrament

whom I, incredulous, adore.
