I sat down at my desk this morning,
Had a thought that had me – my brain, tripping
My room suddenly shaking, I am breathing.

“Stop”, I said, “look up to the sky
And give me the reason why
Everything’s so blue and clear
But I can’t see a light
Stand out?

Why is it that
The moon only shines at night
The stars only are so bright
In a sky devoid of color?
How come the bright -positive- light
Fades away the stars, the moon I cherish so much?
Does this mean you can only burn bright
If the background is dark?”

So I grabbed the blank canvas
That my mind has become and thus
I coat it in black,
The blackest my brush can afford,
I cover all the white spots
Cause darkness is the friend of light,
The darkest my brush can afford,
I paint over the grey spots
Cause darkness is the friend of light
And I need a light, need a guide.

I’ll let my mind drown again
In a place that was once my home
Darkness brought me back to life
And I want that back, need that back.

I sat down at my desk this morning,
Had some thoughts that got me breathing.
My heart slowly darkening,
I’m alive again.
