Once there were three girls named Portia, Erika and Gianna.  They were at the park.  Gianna said:  “My mom said I have to go home at 1:30 pm.”

Erika looked worried.  “It’s 12PM now,” she said.

“AHHHHHHHHHHH!” Gianna screamed.  “I gotta split!  Seeya!”

Portia wanted to know why.  She pointed out that there were ninety minutes between now and 1:30.  Was that not enough time to play?

“I suppose it is,” Gianna said, thinking it over.  “Sorry.  I shouldn’t have had that extra cup of coffee this morning.”

So the girls ran off to play.  A trail led into the woods.  They took pictures of squirrels with their cell phone cams and skipped rocks in the stream.  All in all, they had quite a lovely time.  Then Portia looked at her watch.

“Oh…bollocks!” she cried.  “It’s 2PM!”

Erika’s jaw fell open.  “Blimey!”

Meanwhile, Gianna looked ready to pee herself.  “Two…P…M?” she asked.  “Really?”

Portia and Erika nodded.  This was the end.  Gianna’s mom would be furious.  The girls would all be in dutch.  Their day was ruined.

“Did we have too much fun?” Erika said.

“I guess we did,” replied Portia.

“There’s no such thing as too much fun.”

All three girls screamed at the sound of this new voice.  Behind them stood Gianna’s mother.  She looked upset, but only just.

“Keep an eye on the time though,” she told them.  “Always.  It hordes memories like a squirrel does nuts, and it’s fast as a fox.  Understood?”

“Yes ma’am,” the girls said together.

And everyone went home.
