Black Gold

Oil glut
Maybe, but
You can't have it cheap
We need it more
If you are poor
You'll have to pay or weep.

You can be cold
You're not that old
We'll bask in our oil-fired heat
And stop that talk
You can always walk
No cars but you've got your feet.

It's Black Gold
So we're told
We'll keep it for the wealthy
Cut down your use
There's no excuse
And make the planet healthy.

Don't make a fuss
You've no control on us
We'll bury our heads in the sand
And if there's more
We'll cause a war
To keep production in hand.

You may well shout
But we'll price you out
It's a resource we can't renew
We'll have our way
You won't get a say
For we are the privileged few.
