Fourteen-year-old Aaden is the sole heir to the mountain kingdom Asmalen. At least, that's what he thought until he discovers a frightening boy hidden in a secret chamber deep under the castle who claims he's the King's true son. Aaden would have been happy to hand over the crown. A leisurely life of exploration suited him more than politics ever would. However, he soon discovers the boy has no intention of giving him his freedom. That is unless he can find the notorious band of thieves referred to only as, 'The Guild.'

Desperate to win his freedom, Aaden stages his own kidnapping and flees to the village. Things quickly become more complicated when he meets Anna Marie, a healer with strange prophetic dreams about him, and Rogan, a boy with reckless goals and a magnetic pull. Finding himself torn between the two, Aaden must locate the guild, protect his identity, and avoid capture all while struggling to understand what he wants for himself, even if the what he wants could lose him his life.
