Have you ever flipped through a magazine and came across with a list written in black bolded letters on secret ways to lose pounds? Or have you read about a crazy new pathaleon diet that has worked for Hollywood’s stars? Maybe you’ve turned on the television and seen a tall, thin girl in a bikini eating a monstrous burger. Well, surprise! You have become a victim of what is known as hypersexulization. If you don’t know what hypersexualization is, it's okay! In fact, you are part of 90 percent of Americans that are not aware of what it is and how it affects everyone. According to the American Psychology Association, hypersexulization is “when a person’s value comes only from his or her sexual appeal or behavior to the exclusion of other characteristics.” In other words, hypersexualization, is when a person is only valued because of how “hot” or ”sexy” they look.
