Defeat is a prosperous sin,

dreadful with its kin,

envy, jealousy, gluttony, pride,

all so high yet so snide

as they hope to be the guide

that tricks you to not hide.

They attempt to blow out the candle,

burning with all you can handle,

and when the fire goes out,

your heart might stop,

your pulse might

...and you might feel that you’re at fault.

The sins may make you think you failed,

pushed off the path of life, derailed,

caused by your own mistakes

when really they are the ones to blame.

Envy made you do those things,

jealously pushed you over the edge,

gluttony made you strive for more,

and pride forced you to make a horrible pledge,

one where you felt no remorse,

because you knew there was no outcome worse.

When you fall down into limbo

and your limbs touch the ground,

and you feel the sins crawl up and down

feeding off your lack of sound,

just scream with your power, force, and strength,

and a glow will be found.

When the wick burns out, never be sad,

just know that soon you’ll shine bright.

The moments spent lost in the dark

should be spent looking for light.
