Sledge-hammered (Pendulum2)

Sometimes something will swing the pendulum
Way over to the right
And all equilibrium is gone.
That's when you feel it starting
The fingers of pain in the back of your head
The rushing noise,
You close your eyes and you see red.
Then it crashes into the back of your skull
So hard!
The sledge-hammer!
Arms up to cradle your head
You curl into a ball
And very soon feel yourself fall
To the ground
Where you stay in silence
Pressing hands to head in an effort
To reduce the pounding.
Time is an unknown concept but
Eventually the thump eases to a tap.
You open your eyes and
And your sight is back and you find
You were never laying
On the ground.
Why doesn't the pendulum swing
To the left like that?
