you were nothing more than fiction

the notions of love that bounced off your tongue

were crass words dancing to a callous tune

as if in you were in love with an addiction

and with those seldom times we embraced

your each and every grip slowly worn on

time with you was a chore

our yearning an afterimage and disgraced

when we stood were before leering eyes

the smiles you led on, rehearsed ruses

betrayal was your weapon, treachery a game

driven by your adoration of the guise

lying to anyone willing to play along

pleasured by their pain that you caused

fabricating the image of noblesse oblige

dabbling with the lives of many, pawns were all you saw

for the ends to meet the needs

and forsaken, i had became

a poem miserably written

drafted by pressures of humankind

a story plotted by the world’s delusions

but as if i was the author

seeing pass the ink, through you

on old ripping parchment

you were nothing more than fiction
