A long time ago, on a small island located in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, there was a small city that was thriving on only one thing. Stories.

Everyone on the island had a story to tell, expressing the thoughts of different characters using only their own body and nothing more. Each story was passed down from generation to generation, always by mouth.

Of course, in every great city, there was going to be a flaw. However, the flaw in this town struck everybody speechless when they heard. For behold, a child had been born. One with an excellent mind, a glitter in his eyes, and probably having the best taste for stories. But this child was mute and could not speak a word.

Over the years, the child grew and the glitter in his eyes became brighter. His name was Cornelius Finch and in his mind, he had stories that would blow the citizens’ minds.

At the age of twenty three, Finch went off on his own journey to figure out a way to express his mind. He memorized the code used for very important documents. Something called ‘Written English.’ The complexity of the language startled the man, but his determination pushed him onward.

Finally, a few years later, Finch had written down his greatest story of all and decided to share it with the major of the town in hopes that he may share it with the people, using his very rich and accented voice.

When the major read over the story, he looked to Finch and stared in bewilderment.

“You are some kind of Other, he said, but to Finch, it sounded like ‘Author.’

And so it became, the word of the new ‘author’ spread throughout the town and encouraged people to write down their stories as well, sending them overseas to be shared with the rest of the world.
