 Katie Greets Tuesday

Before the clock radio sounds, Katie Redford instantly wakes up from a strange dream. Katie now thinks of the vivid details. She happened to be chosen, Queen of the Summer Festivities and she has to ring the town's special bell. Dressed in a flower gown, hair band, Katie pulls the cord attached to the bell. Soon, confetti sparkles softly falls like rain, Katie loved it. Surprisingly, the bell doesn't ring, but a dove lands on Katie's shoulder. The lovely bird actually giggled, puckered up for a little kiss. Then the dove speaks, “Don’t have that lobster sandwich, it made me sick!” Katie looked shocked. This dream is so funny, quite odd. Katie thinks it could have been the spicy chicken she ate last night. She and boyfriend, Greg Dawson snacked with a tv mystery movie.

Katie notices the bedroom curtain swaying by an open window, it’s a nice July breeze. Katie now thinks of her secretarial school reunion Friday. She and Greg danced, it was a romantic evening, especially later at the new Surprise Photo. They were showered with bright streamers, confetti. Katie will buy a frame for the adorable picture. Now, the clock radio comes on and grinning Katie turns about. Near Greg's artwork, she sees the heart wedding invitation card from Katie's cousin, Nicole. She will be getting married to Sean on July twenty third, Katie will happily sing for them at the church. Now, while looking in the dresser mirror, Katie smiles at such wonderful thoughts. Last weekend, she and Greg had fun at his Uncle Len, Aunt Stacy anniversary party at the cottage. The day was very busy, she and Greg enjoyed swimming, beach volleyball, they helped out with a barbecue meal and a very funny event after dinner. Aunt Stacy’s twin granddaughters, pretty Christine, Charlene nineteen months danced so cute, wonderfully on the sundeck. They knew how to shake their tiny bottoms with the music. Katie and Greg loved every minute, they couldn’t stop laughing. This is their first summer together and it seems the very best one, Katie is always smiling and it’s a definite sign of sweet comforting love, sparkly happiness.
In the kitchen, Katie is ready for cereal. She now proudly touches the happy face frog chain Greg won at the amusement park, antique car show in June. Katie is happily thinking about Greg that day, he was so excited with his mini putt score card and he wasn’t clearly looking at the pond bridge coming up, he instantly fell in. This was comical, a little boy said it so memorably. “Ah, there’s a swimming pool over there, this pond is just for silly ducks!”  Greg slowly comes out of the water. “Well, this silly duck wanted to get cool off, very nice too!” Katie laughed. “Oh, I did see cute beach towels on sale nearby. I’ll buy you one, Batman or Spiderman?”  Soaking wet, he anxiously hugged Katie tight, she loudly giggled. These thoughts are certainly lovely to hold, Katie often thinks of their beautiful fun Christmas together, Grandma Ethel’s birthday in February and Spring Jamboree which lasted for two weeks. She and Greg shared many awesome times since they met in October at a charity dance. They’re always together, clearly true love.
Today, very warm Tuesday fifteenth of July, Katie is going to be busy at the clinic, two girls are training for office work. Katie wears the beige, white outfit, last month’s birthday gift from Greg,  it’s great they'll have lunch at the pretty Wharf Side Cafe. Greg, an architect loves this charming town. He enjoys living at his uncle’s garage loft, small but cozy. Now, just before leaving the apartment, Katie gets the phone. She wishes it's her folks who are away. The call is from good friend, Denise.  “Hi Denise. I'm not sure about bowling this evening, Aunt Viola wants me to visit at the hospital. Oh Greg mentioned tennis. My neighbour downstairs is having a party, her son arrives from camp. So much is going on. Ah, I'll call you later, I had a very crazy dream, you will laugh!” Katie turns to a cute photo that Greg had taken of Katie, niece Rose enjoying cotton candy at the fair. Now outside, in front of her apartment building, Katie has a call from loving Greg.  “Hi hon, just a reminder to take along a sweater, cool breezes at the wharf. Love ya, sweet cupcake!” Katie laughs. “You're precious, I don't mind the cool breezes! See you later, tell you about a very crazy dream. I can’t wait for my vacation in August, I love fun camping with you. Love ya too, butterscotch pudding!” Katie is so happy, she truly adores Greg. This is one sunny gorgeous morning, she sees a contented lady pushing a baby carriage. She happily turns to Katie. “Hi! I love summer mornings, time with my six weeks baby girl, good exercise for me too.” Katie brightly smiles. “Oh what a sweet baby, sleeping so nice. Yes, can’t beat refreshing breezes! At one summer job, I had worked mornings at a children’s recreation centre. I was thrilled to dress up as,  Little Bo Beep, Cat in the Hat, Gus the Circus Clown and Sally the Singing Teacup. It was  so much fun all summer long. I now love going to work at the air conditioned clinic, popsicles and ice tea for break time!”  They laugh. Katie enjoys great blissful thoughts as she heads to her car, it was hilarious that time when a surprised policeman gave a speeding ticket to a very embarrassed Cat in the Hat. She now chuckles as she sees white tree flowers fall like confetti, special.
Afterwards, while driving by Queen St. Park, Katie notices a middle aged woman near a ladder. In a daisy hat, mauve outfit, the woman is about to hang a potted mums on a high post. Katie will help, she stops the car. The woman is grateful, she mentions giving Katie some fudge. On the ladder, Katie hangs the pot and she now sees the other side of the park. There's a young boy who holds a light cord at the fountain. Worried Katie shouts.  “Hey you, drop that cord, it can be dangerous!” The boy understands, Katie is relieved.  Suddenly, a crow zooms so close that it startles Katie. She sadly loses her balance, she falls off the ladder. Now, the woman screams out to nearby students picking up litter. This is dreadful, Katie lies face down. She groans with intense pain. The student calls for an ambulance. A curious girl about seven now approaches, tiny bells on her sneaker shoelaces. She casually sprinkles confetti on Katie's back.  “Magic confetti, you'll be fine.” The girl places a bag of confetti and a packaged green toy whistle in Katie's hand. Moments after, the ambulance is here. Katie will miss work but she sadly won’t see Greg at lunch.
At the hospital, shaken Katie hears she has a broken arm, sprained knee and bruised side. She soon meets up with nurse Linda, Greg’s sister who calls up Greg. He is naturally stunned to hear about Katie, he will look after her car. Katie certainly feels the shock, she can't bowl, swim or play tennis for awhile. She can’t believe what happened today, she glances at the bag of glittery confetti nearby. A little grin appears on her bruised cheek. After, it was nice seeing Margaret, the woman from the park, she felt terrible to see Katie this way but a sweet friendship has started.
Later, concerned Greg soon arrives, he delightfully lifts Katie's spirits. He has given her flowers and a smiley teddy bear that sings. Denise now shows up and surprisingly, Katie is beaming. Greg leaves for a coffee. Denise sees the left arm cast, she is quite puzzled of this merry image.  “Katie, you look so happy for a patient, what's up?” Katie warmly giggles while noticing the box of fudge from Margaret. “Oh, it's this gorgeous ring, Greg proposed!! Dreams come true, even crazy dreams! We would like to get married next spring. You know, I believe in Magic Confetti, sweet gift. It’s sad, that I fell, stupid crow but now a very joyful celebration!” She now reaches for the whistle and blows with glee. Excited Denise cheers, she warmly hugs. This day is perfect and so is the love of Greg and Katie. Like confetti, their love wonderfully showers all around them.
