The sun sets, way over yonder.
Leaving me alone to ponder.
In my field, where my sheep roam,
In front of my quaint little home.

My thoughts trail far, way back when,
When I still fought, again and again.
The gun shots still fresh in my mind,

The sacrifices for mankind.

The breeze gently ruffles the trees,
Reminding me my life of ease.
Telling me the past is now gone,

Matter not if I lost or won.

The sounds of the birds in the sky,
Made me smile and also sigh.
This new life is now here to stay,

I should enjoy the peaceful days.
