When I Was a Little Boy…

When I was a little boy

I had no little toy

Instead of toy lizards

I’d play with scissors

Mother wasn’t kind to me

Father was always at sea

I would resort to my room

Power through the gloom

Sink myself deep in void

When I got over-annoyed

I remember as a boy

Stinky pinky was a joy

We would play it all night

Even losing was all right

Alas! I was too naïve

Trying to make believe

There was no playmate

A heartrending checkmate…
