Winners Of This Contest Are;

First Place: "Insignis" by RaeBlair. She got a 100/100 for her story, which interpreted the chosen prompt picture beautifully. Her creativity is seriously remarkable.

Second Place: "When Muses Die" by Oleg Roschin. He also got a 100/100 with his indepth imagery, creativity, and his musical references. Such a beautiful piece.

Third Place: "The Seeds of Our Mothers" by Obscure. He got a 98/100 with his tragic story, which had an amazing twist at the end. Quite grasping.

Fourth Place: "Three Rules to Break a Man" by Tim Klein. He got a 96/100 for his dark piece that held a tragic ending.

Fifth Place: "Sorry I Fell" by Hanorbi. He got a 95/100 with his story that seriously brought tears to my eyes. What an amazing piece.

-

Honorable Mentions Are;

"Free Me" by MysticWhisp. Her story was detailed with such perfection, that I could see the scene happening within my mind as I read. Definitely a recommendation.

"Tears of the Broken" by AnarchyBlues. This story was full of emotion, no doubt. Such a tragedy. Amazingly written.

"One Sun, One Moon, One Star" by D A Draven. It's a poetic kind of story, with a lot of imagery to keep you intact. Tragic, as well.

Scenary Award:

? "When Muses Die" by Oleg Roschin - "Ivan casts a quick glance at the large brazen candelabrum towering over severed, wilted rose heads scattered over the desk. The first pages of his Fifth Symphony in B flat major, creased and torn beyond recognition, lie hopelessly in the corner, covered by thick cobwebs. He has salvaged his favorite part, where a powerful crescendo takes the exposition towards a sudden key change, twin oboes and a bassoon transfiguring the escstatic fortissimo con fuoco into the sublimely serene, meditative dolce expressivo of the second theme. The rest was destroy by her."

? "One Sun, One Moon, One Star" by D A Draven. - "The sun sets tired from another day of not sleeping weel. For the moon rises and the moonlight shines into the temple, cold colours of darkness arising again for once it fell. She falls to the ground, her heart fails her because when the sun revived it, it had already been bitten by the venon of a snake. The moonlight turning the ground of the temple into a cemetary, life is now a ghost lost in the lake. One star can be seen in the night sky in the form of the woman and a young girl holding hands, maybe teeling a story that they are mother and daughter. The star touching water, the star fades out..."

Favorite Excerpts:

? "Three Rules to Break a Man" by Tim Klein - "The way her hips swayed was hypnotizingly rhythmic. Ticktock, ticktock his eyes followed with the intensity of a high-powered microscope."

? "Free Me" by MysticWhisp - "Forever trapped in this place, nowhere to hide and die peacefully. In the distance, she heards the old clock sing to life, each chime hammering into her flesh with practiced precision. She understood what the chimes meant; it meant he was coming. She feels her tattered heart sputter awake, age-old fear still clinging to her mind, like memories of life lost and lives, but still powerful enough to make her cower."

? "A Field of Orchids" by Grief. - "As her flesh nourished the birds and her blood the flowers, a small sound - was it a cry? was it a laugh? - was made inside the peaceful field, because it was there that she had found her happiness and her doom, her beggining and her ending. In her beloved field of orchids."

? "Insignis" by RaeBlair. - "- For, she saw on the floor beneath the gurney with ruffled sheets and blood specks, a few imperfections and a single maple leaf. Her mother was gone, now. Truly, and forever."

I seriously want to thank all of you for making this contest one of the best ones I have hosted by far. Each one of you deserve a congratulations for writing stories based off of a simple picture, and using your creative minds to write something so beautiful, yet tragic. I'm proud of each, and every one of you.

Thank you.

Hanorbi

I'm honored to have made it into the top 5, as I have no idea how I did. Too many incredible writers to go up against and there was no way I was beating Obscure, Oleg, and Rae. I knew that coming in. I've read their work for pure enjoyment, not by request, and have been in awe of their skill - the same goes for Dexter and I can't believe he wasn't in the top 5. I'm glad Scara and Danny got their award for love, seeing that gave me the biggest grin. :)

I feel insanely humbled, so thank you for the smile and for holding the contest. Brilliant work to all the other writers!

I love the community these contests bring together, and it's great to read what unique stories people come up with when using prompts; how they take a picture in a way you never would have thought of and produce incredible stories. It's an honour to come third when there's so many talented authors here, congratulations to everyone, you've been a great host, Darling :)

Oh my gosh, I certainly did NOT expect to place in this contest - let alone first! Thank-you so much! Congrats to winners Oleg, Obscure, Tim, and Hanorbi and all others who entered! You all deserve it! There were so many creative and amazing stories here! This was such a fun contest to participate in, and I love how much detail you put in to the results, too - finding a way to include every entrant. Thanks for the mention about the 1000 Words Contest, also! :-)

For my reading request, could you check out and critique "Ride", as well as the short story/possible novel "Feeding Hunger"? I'm looking to update and continue Ride, and turn short story Feeding Hunger into a novel - so any ideas/critique/thoughts to update would be amazing! Thanks again! See you next contest! Woo! ~ Rae
