I need to walk away,

Save whatever I have left.

Try to put a smile

On this face

Of broken lies.

Don’t look this way

Because then I will regret

Knowing you even more.

I won’t have the strength

To say goodbye.

I know my heart

And I know my mind.

Only through time

Will they get along again.

I’m sorry

That I feel this way

To an idea

So stupid to fathom

One cannot be taken seriously

So I’ll walk back into my cage

Where I know I’m alone.

I’ll regret everything I’ve done,

I’ll curse my choices,

I’ll damn my heart.

And I’ll wait

For the next horizon.

I’ll wait for its stunning silence,

Its warmth overseeing my blindness

To the darkness behind it.
