Am writing about society,

Am writing about you and I,

Cause society is Kamau, society is Otieno, society is Mogaka, society is Kibet, society is you and I,

To change society is our responsibility you and I,

If all society hope diminishes, its going to be our fault just you and I.

For we are society.

***

These days when I look around my spirit sinks.

What happened to those days when children were children?

What happened to those days when mothers were mothers?

What happened to those days when fathers were fathers?

These days what we see,is a child raising a hand to her own mother,

Children no longer value education, simply cause we have rich school dropouts and poor school graduates,

I remember my teacher used to tell me ''Education is the key to success'' Did anyone change this padlock of success?!?!

Children now drink, am not against them drinking milk, water, soda or juice,

Am against them drinking alcohol, illicit brew and beer,

And what we are told is ''ALCOHOL SHOULD NOT BE SOLD FOR PERSONS BELOW THE AGE OF 18''

Is this statement made for the sweetness of our ears or to be acted upon?

Policemen have changed their slogan to ''THE TOUGHER THE LAW THE RICHER WE BECOME''

Leaving their slogan of ''UTUMISHI KWA WOTE'' to girls, who are now running a 24Hr active market, selling what they own, selling their dignity.

Mother now kill their own children,

And fathers have earned themselves new jobs in the County and National government of The DDO(s),

The Daily Drinking Officers, spending their time and money in the drinking dens, walking in the streets drunk and have neglected their roles.

Ou! Society what happened to our roots?

***

''Serikali tunaomba'' is now a common phrase,

A certain philosopher said ''As Africans we should look for a way to help our government if our government isn't looking for a way to help us.''

Corruption is now the lyrics in the song as we praise,

You only walk into my office if you are only from my race,

Hunger, violence and terrorism is now the case,

From Monday to Monday is what we hear in the news,

With this rate, talk of vision 2030 as a dead phase,

Cause we are living in a society, where seeing a new day is only by God's grace.

Is what our society has become.

***

Lets restore our humanity,

Please leaders stop this mendacity,

For our society is perishing,

Our future is vanishing,

And our hope is simply diminishing,

Oh society lets trace our roots,

And strive to embrace love, peace and unity,

Lets put our words into action, not just using the eye,

Even if it means giving it a try,

Cause change just needs you and I.

And we can make it happen; ou! YES WE CAN.

For we are the society.
