Do you think before you hit send?

It may be hard to see because you are always looking down,

down at the screen that consumes your life.

What you see is an opportunity to be in the “in crowd”.

But what you don’t see is the other side of that screen.

On the other side is the one who now has a terrible loss because of your gain.

What you don’t see is the one who has to go to school in fear.

What you don’t see is the internal and external scars covered up by cloth.

A sigh of relief the person breathes out to see the weekend come.

But then it’s Sunday, and now it's Monday and the fear starts all over again

What you don’t see is the silent sobs, shooting out harder than a firehose.

What you don’t see is the constant dings and rings, spewing words of who you think the person is.

They look in the mirror and can’t find anything worthy about themselves.

But they could never be more wrong, they weren’t the one who hit send, why should they feel like this?

What you don’t see is a living, breathing human being.

What you don’t see is someone who is fragile and can be persuaded by words.

If you could see the other side of the screen,

would you hit send?
