No one has seen what I truly look like. For I have created a mask from another wolf’s skull and wore it over my face and the top of my snout. The only ones I recall seeing who I truly am, was my parents. Such pity. They punished me for doing normal things. Which for me was killing my little siblings and other pups. They threw me out into the wilderness, hoping I would die. But I didn’t. I survived and taught myself things. Things that would want me dead as soon as someone figured them out. When I hit adulthood I hunted down my parents like prey. When I found them. Those old wolves who left me to die, I had no mercy.
I attacked without warning. I tackled my father to the ground and quickly tore out his spine. His blood spewing all over me and the ground. My mother watched in horror. Motionless, unable to speak. I set my new toy on the ground and pinned her. “Do you remember what you did to me?” I spat in her face. I saw tears start falling down her face. “Pathetic” I growled. I put a paw on her chest, shaking my head. She slightly whimpered, as applied more pressure on her chest. I then started laughing. I didn’t want to laugh, it just happened. My laugh wasn’t a friendly one; no, this one was wicked. “T-there’s something w-wrong with you, you n-need help,” my mother gasped out as I applied more pressure. She was shaking uncontrollable under me. I stopped laughing and looked down at her. I moved myself up until I was hovering over her. I quickly shot my head down and latched my jaws into her neck. Her blood quickly filling my mouth. Surprisingly I liked the taste. I put a paw on her face for balance. After a few seconds of trying I finally managed to pull out her throat. I listened to her drown in her own blood. Which made me smile.

Two weeks later

It’s been only two weeks since I murdered my parents. Yet, I felt an anonymous need. Do I need help? I thought nibbling on my father’s spine. I haven’t taken the mask off. I decided it matched me. No, wolves deserve to die. A voice in my head told me. I heard footsteps heading my way. I shoved my ears straight with a grin. I dropped the spine and slid out of my cave behind a tree. I waited until I picked up the wolf’s scent. A young female by the smell. Yes, alone and weak. I slightly peaked my head out and saw her. My black fur concealed me in the night’s shadow. By where she was going, she was up to no good. I tailed her until she stopped at a cave, in the middle of the forest. She stopped and checked her surroundings, even checking for any present scent. Luckily for me, the wind current was blowing down from the north. I then heard her whisper out a name. Then another wolf came out of the cave. “Are you sure this is a good idea?” the she-wolf asked. The other wolf was a male. “Yeah, as long as no one catches us” he insured her with a nudge to the shoulder. Two lovers, huh. A smile spread across my face. The male seemed to be hubris. Which made the idea of killing him so much more pleasuring. I silently crept up to the cave and peaked inside. They were about to start expressing their love to one another, when the male spotted me. “Hey you!” he barked, making the female turning towards me. To my surprise she didn’t see me. “Who are you talking to?” she asked, confusion clearly present on her face. “You don’t see that wolf?” her partner asked, still staring at me. I stood frozen, not risking my chances. But that idea failed when I saw her jump. Her shriek cut through the sky. I decided it was time to end these two’s lives. I slowly walked into the cave. The female fled while the male stood his ground. I approached the male first. “You don’t scare me” he snarled in my face. “I’m not trying to” I said calmly, even though my blood was starting to boil from this loquacious talk. “Then what’s with the mask” he spat. I removed my mask and set it to the side. Horror quickly spread to his face. “Yo-you’re the southern alpha’s son” he stammered, as he started to back up. I quickly shoved him to the floor. As he fell, I slashed his underbelly open. I watched in glee as his internals became external. I quickly changed my gaze to the she-wolf. Who was trembling in terror. I walked over the dying wolf and put my mask back on. “Do-don’t you da-dare touch he-her” the male rasped out, his intestines sprawled out in front of him. I didn’t answer. I knew he couldn’t move without risking more damage. I started to progress towards her. She backed up keeping her eyes on my approaching figure. Her eyes widened when her rear touched a wall. She was about to plead for her life but I stopped her. I shoved her under my paws and latched my jaws around her neck. She gasped as my teeth sank into her flesh. I pulled up the skin on her face. I then in one quick moment ripped her face off. She howled in pain. I left the two to die.

My onslaught went on for quite awhile. I killed wolves that were alone and weak. I couldn’t risk being seen by a group. But that changed one day.
I was approaching my fifth couple this month. I was about to make my move. The male of the couple, suddenly grabbed me and threw me to the ground. I was taken by surprise. He didn’t say anything, just held me down. Then it happened. I was struck in the back of the head by something. My body relaxed, as I fell unconscious.

I wasn’t aware of how long I’ve been out. But when I awoke, all of my paws were tied together. The sun had completely set. I heard weird gibberish. I looked up from my current state of being and saw very tall figures standing over me. Fear took it’s toll over me and began to tremble heavily. Humans, my mind hissed. One of the humans, who was wearing a black cloak and a deer skull with and amulet as an accessory walked up to me. They noticed I had awoken. He started stroking my side. He slowly removed my mask and set it next to me. I noticed that neat little channels were perfectly carved, swirling around and around me. The human pulled out a knife and raised his arms. An uproar begin. The human knelt besides me and put the knife to my throat. Without a warning. The blade moved slowly across my neck.

It was all in slow motion. The blade, the yelling, my blood filling the channels, the clouds moving across the sky, the human standing and joining his fellow comrades. I started to choke and gag on blood my blood. The need for air growing more apparent. I felt, not only my own blood, but strength leave me. The world growing colder every minute.

That’s when I heard it.

The song.

I closed my eyes for the last time and let it take me.
