Laying outstretched,
all parts of me being pulled
in all directions,
I wonder:
“Do the masked men feel any remorse,
or are they just performing their ‘duty’?”

I see them
all round me,
the Hooded Ones,
the ones who
pry,
pull,
twist,
tear
into my soul,
slowly draining me until nothing is left
but pain and grief.

They drift behind me,
in front of me,
beside me,
showing me how flawed humanity is,
showing me just how putrid people can be,
showing me how I will be safer if I stay inside
and never leave.
Constantly chanting through every second of every minute of every hour day year who can even tell anymore?
Chanting,
No escape,
No escape,
No escape,
No escape,
No escape
