Integrity is to do the right thing even when no one is looking. Honesty builds morals and ethical values in a person’s character. The principals are easy however few people live a life without being deceitful or manipulative.  There are a variety of ways to violate your integrity.

In friendships, relationships, and careers where there is a person who is deceitful could be devastating. Then there are people who offer to help in hard times however when asked to follow through on their offer they come up with excuses. Saying one thing and doing another is blatant and causes the other party to feel disrespected and unappreciated. In a career position, any kind of lie told could take your livelihood away!

A person who lies is a selfish person. A lie can have a chain reaction and requires attention by using more lies.  Lying to make oneself comfortable while the other party has to endure whatever that lie is.  It takes time and perseverance to earn trust back. There will be people who will no longer forgive you no matter how much you change.

Adherence to the truth is crucial in life. A person can sometimes hurt themselves more than anyone. Being corrupt in any way can raise stress levels which can turn into mental and/or physical illness. Integral means complete. We must persevere in the times where lying would be beneficial and stay complete within our moral and ethics.
