While many have been pessimistic about employment in the United States,  in my opinion, demographics does not show this. When looking at percentages, instead of straight numbers, the numbers are optimistic. You see, 50 year olds are at the tail end of the baby boom.  Main line baby boomers in their 60's and 70's are still consumers.Post boomers are now in college in a cohort of persons which is dramatically smaller than their parents. This is because many parents  are having only 2 children, in stead of  3 to 5 children. This means that the post baby boomers will not provide enough employment jobs to meet the consumer demands of their elders.  Given this situation I predict that the employment demand will have to be met in part, by the last baby boomers who are in their fifties, together with the first non-baby boomers. This means that there will be a large demand by employers to hire, and an increasingly smaller number of  prospective workers available to take those jobs. Here, I mean not only manual labor jobs but also professional positions, such as doctors, lawyers, dentists, managers, etc.So, good luck fifty year olds, your time is coming.
