The Public Would Be Offended

By Shadowgate

…...

13 year old Martin Short was on trial as an adult for a double murder. His 19 year old stepsister confessed in open court at the last minute to doing it and framing Martin.

The Judge Herbert Block said "well Mister Martin Short it seems you're innocent after all."

Martin tried to catch his breath and said "your honor we see kids all over being certified to be tried as adults. I just wonder if there could be a special occasion where I could be certified as an adult to attend a bar to celebrate my acquittal? When was the last time a juvenile was certified as an adult to vote, attend a bar, or buy porn?"

The judge threw a fit and gave the following angry answer.

"THE PUBLIC WOULD BE OFFENDED BY THAT! THAT WAS A SMART ASS QUESTION AND I SHOULD HOLD YOU IN CONTEMPT OF COURT. IT'S BAD ENOUGH WHEN A DISTRICT ATTORNEY A LOSES A CASE BECAUSE THE PUBLIC'S TAX DOLLARS WENT TO WASTE. THE PUBLIC WANTS VIOLENT JUVENILES TRIED AS ADULTS BECAUSE THEY PAY TAXES!"

Martin Short's court appointed attorney stood up and asked "shouldn't the public be happy that an innocent child was not wrongfully convicted as an adult? I've heard of pro-prosecution judges but you take the cake!"

The judge screamed like a two year old literally.

The court appointed attorney said "well my client maybe a child being tried as an adult but he acts more like an adult than you do."

The court room spectators all said "whoa."

The judge walked off the bench and Martin was free.

THE END
