Ferocious (Poetic Version)
You beat me, you starve me
You lock me away
And here you just keep me
For many a day.
When I'm mad with hunger
You throw in a rat
The fights not a fair one
But you do know that.
You want to develop
My taste for warm blood
You'll make me a monster
Satisfaction will flood.
I know it's not right
But I need your approval
If only someone had
Secured my removal.
So now comes the build-up
With lots of raw meat
When I behave well
You'll give me a treat.
One night in the van
To a place I am taken
What is this place
My confidence shaken.
There is an arena
A fenced off ring
Where my life as a fighter
Is about to begin.
We're driven quite mad
And blood is the scent
You want lots to be spilled
Oh, I see your intent.
You are making me do this
I just have to win
Or you will just starve me
Until I'm too thin.
So I am the victor
Yes, I win the fight
And I win many more
Just for your delight.
But when I'm too injured,
Too worn and too battered
You toss me away
As though I never mattered.
It takes a long time but
I start to recover
And feelings of love
Eventually smother
The hurt and the torment
That you put me through.
How I just wish that
I'd never seen you.
The bangs and the shouts
Bring it all flooding back
I never intended
To launch an attack.
So now my life's over
Many more will you ruin
Until people just stop you
Your 'Sport' from persuing.
