A A A

Have you ever had that feeling

Where you want to sing at the top of your lungs

And belt it out

Louder and louder and louder

Until someone tells you to be quiet

But you know you won’t

You can’t

That one song,

Piece of intense music

And melody

And lyrics so poetic

And meaningful

And full of infinite beauty

That you just want to scream

You don’t know how to control that intense

Rapid fire growing in your heart

That spreads

There is no way to control the engine that is starting in your chest

In your lungs

Filling you with air

To shout out the notes

And let the melody

And harmony

Carry you away like a river

Swiftly

Plunging you under the water

So you can’t see anything

Just like how you can’t see anything when you are imagining

What goes along with the song

But because you can’t do that

Without being stared at

You just crank up the volume

Until your ears are

Bursting with noise of the song

With the lyrics

But even then

You put it louder

And the song fills your body and soul

Making you want to move

Sway side to side

Bounce your head

And so now

You open your mouth to sing

But don’t

Just mouth the words

And your vocal chords are yearning for the sound

That should be coming out of your mouth

Your head is full

Of that aching to sing

That aching to let the song

Pour out of your soul

In endless song

And you want so bad

Just to sing

That you almost cry

That you almost break down right there

Needing to hear the sound

But instead

You play the song

Over

And over

And over

And over

Again

Until the feeling is too great

And you have to shut it off

Or you might just explode
