Laying in my bed one night drifting off to sleep

I was suddenly woken by an awful deathly screech
As I gained the strength to rake a look lightening lit my room
And in through the window peeped a face full dressed in gloom.
I rubbed my eyes so tiredly i thought this  was a dream
But my mind was re awakened by a frightening  scream
Please miss please miss let me in a little voice did plea
With soft little weep came my daddy's chasing me
Tears ran down her cheeks, fear frozen in her eyes
I raced right to my window and let the little girl inside
The little girl was shaking, at the hands of her dads abuse
This precious little girl had been beaten black and blue
I let her have my bed, I left and slightly closed the door
And I sat outside the room until the early morn
And when I went to wake her she was nowhere to be seen
That's when I realised the little girl was me
