Lying next to you

When we were in between

There was a strung piano there

And a rug beneath

My head was in your lap

You twirled ringlets in my hair

My hands rubbed your thighs

And pretty soon everywhere

Lying next to you

In that music library

By the piano where she played

When they couldn’t quite see

We kinda did funny things

We let our touches speak

When we didn’t feel like otherwise

It was just you and me

Lying next to you

I thought I found myself

I thought I was everything

I thought I was good enough

But now we’re far apart

Now we’ll never see

Now we’ll never know

What it means to be ourselves

In spite of everything
