In the six seconds I fell in love with my life. I sat on my hands in the open trunk of the car, the smell of smoking firecrackers and barbeque stained the streets and the residue of fog hung low in the air. A controversial Toby Kieth song played in the back singing of freedom and the colors red white and blue, my friends in the street laughing and taking pictures to remember the time. I sat cross legged in the trunk now, the slow song playing in the back but no overshadowing the sounds of firecrackers and laughter and as I looked up in the stained black sky then back down at my friends and then over to the drunk parents giggling to themselves quietly I began to love my life. I fell in love with the small of burnt barbeque and smoke. I fell in love with the obnoxious laughs and fits of giggles. I fell in love when the random flash of snapshot photos. I fell in love with my seat in the trunk to view all the beautiful things and in those six seconds with Toby Kieth I fell in love with the Fourth of July and my life.
