Jumping Ship.

Some of you got what you wanted
Some of you did not
The voters have made their decision
While you have lost the plot.

You stirred up a lot of emotions
Consequences almost forgot
A continent thrown into confusion
But you don't care a jot.

“Oh, look,” you said, “There is a storm.
Ask the passengers what we should do.
If they choose to sail right into it
They can find another crew.”

For that is what you've surely done
Turned right into a tempest
And now you're leaving one by one
Not up to take the test.

The world itself is at your feet
You have plenty of choice.
But what about the passengers?
You've left them with no voice.

The waves have started crashing
The rigging is starting to rip
But there's no crew to offer help
They've already jumped the ship.
