a strange disturbance in the sea
the tide has grown excessively
as if the moon will claim it as her own
.
the ocean gave the moon her birth
you'd think she'd had her money's worth
but now she wants to cash in on the loan
.
for months the moon remaining full
intensifying in her pull
for all we know, the sea may tear away
.
if oceans move beyond our reach
when we would go down to the beach
there would not be a surf in which to play
.
the earth asserts her gravity
but she will never win, you see
the moon is too alluring to resist
.
it looks like we'll be high and dry
thanks to our neighbor in the sky
and how our lovely oceans will be missed
