After Paris.

After Paris
Our feelings changed
Those we trust
Have rearranged.
It's hard to avoid
Being suspicious
Never quite sure
Who is malicious.
A bag that's left,
That shouldn't be there
Forgotten luggage
Or a bomb scare?
And that package
Left on the floor,
Is it innocent
Or death's own door?
Another crowd,
Another face,
Another person
Looks out of place.
There's a crowd
They're moving fast,
Fleeing terror
Or a bomb blast?
A night out
Was once for fun
Now it's to prove
We're not undone.
Eyes always open
Scanning around,
Ears ever listening
For threatening sound.
Never relax
Stress will thrive
We're ready to run
Should terror arrive.
But this is not
A thing of race
The threat could come
From any place.
There are so many
Would launch an attack
Our feeling of safety
Will not come back.
