Karen Oneal’s Don’t Be Afraid to Write Horror CONTEST:

You read it right, ladies and gentlepen.

Starting today, I’ll be accepting entrees of your own unbridled terror.

The rules are simple:

There is only one rule. And that is your short story’s genre MUST BE HORROR!!! The subgenre is entirely up to you, so too is everything else from the word count, the subject matter, the use of ‘profanity’ or eroticism, and explicit use of gore. You’re free to all and any of it.

It’s all up to you. Just remember. HORROR!!!.

You don’t have to include a word count below your entry, and the sky is the limit when it comes to how long you want your story to be.

PRIZES:

First place seat: A comment review on 5 of your written works, a fan request, and I’ll bring as many readers as I can to your stories for 2 weeks.

Second place seat: A comment review on 3 of your written works, a fan request, and I’ll bring as many readers as I can to your stories for 1 week.

Third place seat: A comment review on 2 of your written works, a fan request, and I’ll bring as many readers as I can to your stories for 3 days.

Honorable mentions 1 & 2: A comment review on 1 of your written works, a fan request, and I’ll give you fair pointers on the strong parts of your writing and places that need just a little bit of work.

Entries will cease to be accepted after the deadline of AUGUST 1ST.

The results of the contest will be posted a week afterward on AUGUST 7TH.

How I’ll be critiquing your stories is based purely on enjoy-ability.

You may not have written the most believable dialogue or characters or what-have-you.

But if the story is enjoyable and horrific, then it will earn my appraisal and prizes.

And when I say “comment reviews” I mean I’ll be giving in-depth pointers and critique of your works, which I’ll be giving to each and every entry of the contest anyway, but when it comes to the prizes of comment reviews the same thing applies—I’ll be giving you decent, helpful critique.

Above all, this contest is not so much of a competition as it is more of an appreciation for you aspiring horror writers out there.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don’t be disconcerted from leaving them down in the comments bellow, to which I am highly responsive.
