In the beginning there were twelve of us. Call us anomalies. Creators. Gods.
I don't know exactly how many there are left in the universe but I know some have already progressed their civilization into the next era and are now a threat to us. To me.
My planet isn't ready yet but I can feel them getting closer. This day and age is not the right one to reveal them to the playing field. But if I don't, it will be too late and I will lose everything. If only I wasn't so focused on creating the perfect being. You see, I started over about five times already. You might know them as the mass extinctions. I needed to test survivability, power and wit. But my creations let me down each and every time resulting in resetting the progress.  Luckily I learned from my mistakes, making slight changes in the source code here and there. I can't say the same about them. The ones I'm stuck with now; Humans. Their mistakes keep piling up one after another. They are focused on the right things, but don't have what is needed to progress into the next age. The one where I expose the truth about their existence. I thought they would lead me to victory, it all looked so promising. The progress my creation made was beyond comprehension, but then came the dark ages. Something the humans haven't quite gotten out of, yet. Sadly it's already too late. I wish I had more time, yet time is the one thing I can’t create. The list of things to achieve before we should enter the game is too long. They haven't even achieved interplanetary space travel and are still settled on only one planet. Their birth planet. Earth.

Yet this does not stop the others. They prey upon those still not advanced enough. Easy targets make easy kills. That is how some of us already lost. Driven to the point of extinction.

The chance to survive taken away by force. Because that is how this game is played; until there is only one of us left. One civilization under the command of one creator.
This is the first time I joined the playing field, yet it’s not the first time my kind has played this game. No, on the contrary. Every couple of eons there is a victor and then the universe resets itself again. All matter gets pulled back to one point, the center, and with one big bang it gets thrown out into the void. Matter rejoins and form planets, galaxies and everything else around us. This repeats itself into oblivion. We, the Gods, choose a planet we think has everything we need to form a conquering civilization. Luckily as creators we can always take unused matter and relocate it if needed for the progression of our species.
For example; because I was new to the game I had to choose last. There weren't many great choices left so I had to improvise. I found a great planet in the habitable zone, yet it lacked materials and mass. I used another planet and collided the two to make one. It couldn't have gone better, and from the leftover debris the moon was formed.

I could go on and on about my creation progress but it is best for me to just skip to the important part. The now. Because if I don't take action and let this civilization figure everything out for themselves they will be crushed. It is too soon but I need to step in and try and move the course of the human race towards the right future. The path they are on now will lead to destruction even before they enter the next phase.
Let me explain a bit more about what is going on in this universe of ours. I mentioned the twelve beings already, the anomalies. There are many more but only twelve enter the universe at a time. They select where they begin, the origin, and go from there. Complete creative freedom. That way every civilization is different resulting in a different outcome each time. This greatly improves the entertainment value of the match. The other Gods enjoy the process and outcome which is the only reason the universe exists actually. Status and fame are rewarded this way.

To us, all of our being is measured by these two standards.

Each civilization has different phases;
First, there is the creation. In this phase the order of defeat in the previous game dictates who gets to choose their origin first; the winner gets to set the rules of the universe and is also the final civilization to take down. He is left outside of the match for as long as there are more than two creators left. Which gives him the ultimate advantage because he can progress his civilization without interference from others. Then the one who ended in second place has second choice and third place has its pick after that and etc. etc.

After all of them have chosen their origin the new players can have their choice, I was the only new one this cycle. There are countless habitable planets but not all have the right requirements. First of all, resources are a must; a planet without the right ingredients could never create life or sustain it.
Then next is the location, it must have a tactical advantage. That is why Earth was the best choice of all that was left to choose from. In the creation phase you get everything ready you need for life to begin.
