Somewhere between Knoydart and nowhere,

He sits on the shore.

Making peace with himself

And releasing demons back into the sea.

The water is calm – the past is quiet

And in the stillness,

History reveals its lessons; it relents –

Then, resigns itself to journal notes and tiny scars,

That pepper his callused palms.

He basks in the light of the setting sun

And as that amber disk sinks beneath the brine,

Day makes way for night

But the dark places within

Now make way for light to shine
