THE SECRET CAVE
Chapter 1:
Noticing that his friend Sammy Turtle was just staring at his nutty cookie
for the past few minutes.
Tommy Cub joked
“Dude, are you going to eat that? Or just stare at it to death?”
“Huh?” Oh, very funny, here you can have it.
I’m really not that hungry.”
Sammy sighed before he handed Tommy the cookie
“Okay, Sammy spill it.
What’s the matter you look like your puppy just drowned.”
Tommy asked him
“Nothing really. I was just thinking about a couple of kids,
that I met at our lake house the other day.” Sammy began
“What about them?” Tommy asked
“Well, they’re a bit strange.
Every time I went over to their house to see if they wanted to hang out or something
“They’d just stare at me like I grew another head.”
Sammy answered him
“Well, maybe they’re just shy.” Tommy shrugged
“That’s what I thought at first.
But the last time I went over
they were just sitting on their sun deck staring at the water
“Like they were in a trance or something.
They didn’t even notice that I was standing there until I coughed.”
Sammy told him
“Wow, that does sound weird.
But instead of making yourself all nuts trying to figure out what’s wrong with them
“I’ve an idea.
We’re going up to your lake house this week right?”
Tommy asked
“Yah, so?” Sammy shrugged
“So maybe, they’ll still be there.
Since school doesn’t start for another few weeks
and if they’re, we’ll ask them to hang out with us
“And take it from there.” Tommy explained
“That’s a great idea.” Sammy smiled
A few days later the boys found the ferret boys quietly reading under a big beach umbrella
“Hey guys, this is my friend Tommy, and Tommy, this is Bob and Ted Forest.
My lake house friends.” Sammy introduce them all to each other smiling
“We were wondering if you guys, would like to come over to my place.
And meet my other friends who came with us,
to hang out and maybe play some video games or something.”
He added shrugging.
The two brothers just stared at them with blank confused looks on their faces
Not certain of what to do next Tommy looked over to Sammy, shrugged then asked the brothers again
“So, are you guys, coming?”
“Yes, we’d love to. But we’re not sure that our mom would let us.”
Bob shrugged
“Why not?”
It’s just two houses over and it’d be a great way for us to get to know each other better.
I’m sure that if we go ask her, she’ll say yes.”
Sammy smiled
“No!” Bob suddenly cried out
“Umm, what my brother meant was that you guys, should wait out here.
While we go ask my mom doesn’t like to be disturb when she’s working on her book.”
Ted quickly explained before they took off running towards their house
And as they watched them run off
Tommy reached over and patted Sammy on his back and said
“Okay, so maybe you were right. They’re a little strange.”
Chapter 2:
Too much of the surprise to all the boys she said yes and was more than happy to let them
Go off with their new friends.
Not only did she say yes, but she also invited the gang to a bonfire later on that night
In which they were all more than happy to accept
A short while later when they went inside Sammy’s house.
They found the girls playing video games inside the play room
“Hey girls, I’d like you to meet Ted and Bob,
they’re staying a few houses down from us.” Sammy told them
“Hi!” And welcome to our little home away from home hide away.”
Vicky Dragonfly smiled over at Ted.
Cookie and Daisy Penguin looked at each other with a big smile on their faces as
They secretly both agreed that there was a little crush connection going on
between Vicky and Ted
A few hours later they had a sand castle contest in which Vicky won with Ted coming in a close second
“Hey, I’ve been meaning to tell you guys,
what Sammy and I found while collecting some sea shells this morning.”
Tommy began
What they wanted to know
“An entrance for a cave that looks like it was part of a large rock,
that were crashing into the water.” Tommy explained
Cool where’s it at? The girls wanted to know
“Just by the far end of the beach.” Sammy answered them
“Oh, we heard about that place. It’s haunted.” Bob added
What
And before any of the gang had a chance to ask why it was haunted.
A big flash of lightening flashed across the sky
“Oh wow, we better hurry and head back before it starts pouring on us.
Sorry you guys, but it looks like we’ve to conceal the bonfire.”
Ted told them.
But instead of moving the gang just stared at their new friends
with confused looks on their faces
“Did you just say that it was haunted?”
You guys, don’t really believe in ghost do you?” Cookie asked them
The two brothers quickly nodded their head yes.
Then took off running before any of them could ask any more questions
Later that day Vicky found Ted sitting by himself reading
“Oh, hi.” He mumbled once he saw her
“Hey, hope you don’t mind.
But I just came over to make sure you guys, were okay, since you took off before
“We had a chance to tell you that
we didn’t mean to make you feel like we were making fun of you or uncomfortable.
It’s just we’ve heard of places being haunted before
and it always ended up being something else then ghost.”
Vicky explained
“Don’t worry about it. So I guess you don’t believe in ghost, huh?”
Ted asked her. Vicky shrugged
“I never seen one. But I’m not closed minded about them existing.”
“That’s cool, and I’m sorry too. We shouldn’t have just ran off like that
“It’s just we’re not supposed to go or even talk about that place.”
Ted explained
“Why not?” Vicky asked.
And before Ted had a chance to answer Bob walked over to them and interrupted
“Hey Ted, mom wants you to come inside.”
“Okay, I’ve to go thanks for coming over.”
Ted sadly smiled as he got up to leave.
But before he did he leaned over and whispered in her ear
“I wish that I could tell you
Chapter 3:
“So was he mad?” Daisy asked Vicky over breakfast the next morning
“No, but I think there’s something going on that they’re not telling us.”
Vicky answered her then she quickly told the gang the rest of the story
“Wow, I wonder what he meant by that?” Daisy said.
Vicky shrugged
“Don’t know. Do you think I should ask him?”
“No, let him tell you when he feels the time is right.
You don’t want to scare him off.” Cookie told her
“Yah, I guess but I just wish he would’ve just told me what it was.
I like Ted, but he can sometimes be- “Vicky began
“Weird, creepy, strange, all of the above?” Sammy interrupted laughing
“Sammy!”
“Hey, Sammy you forgot wimpy, and bit whacky too.” Tommy also laughed
“You guys, aren’t funny!”
Just because they’re a bit different then us,
doesn’t make them weird, wimpy or anything else!”
Vicky cried out
“Sorry, you girls, know we didn’t mean it like that.
I’ve an idea why don’t we go and explore the cave,
maybe if we can prove that there’s nothing to be scare of
“Then they’ll won’t be so scared about the dumb cave in the first place.”
Tommy told them
An hour later they were at the entrance of the cave and carefully stepped inside of it
“It’s really creepy in here.”
Daisy said as
they continued to walk deeper inside until they came to a small clearing
that was brightly lit up by a bunch of small candles
Oh wow!
” Maybe this cave is really haunted or we just interrupted their ghostly dinner!”
Tommy laughed
“Very funny.”
Vicky slightly frowned for a second then started laughing along with the rest of the gang.
Their laughter was cut short when a ghostly laugh floated through the walls of the cave
They ran out of the cave and didn’t stop running until they reached the safety of Sammy’s lake house. In where they found Bob and Ted waiting for them
“Hi, we were wondering where you guys have been.
We wanted to see if you wanted to go out for a swim.” Bob asked them
Sounds perfect after exploring that stuffy cave” Tommy began
What!” You guys really didn’t go in there did you?” Ted asked
“Yah, and it was okay, until we found.
They then took turns in telling what they found
“Wow, then what happened?”
Did you go and see what was making the noise?” Bob asked them
“Are you nuts?”
No!” we just ran out of there and didn’t stop until we got back here.”
Sammy cried
“So I guess, now you’ll stay away from there right.” Ted asked
“Wrong, there’s something weird going on and we’re going to find out.”
Tommy stated
“Oh, umm, we don’t think that’s such a great idea.
You guys, should just forget all about the cave.” Ted told them
“And why should we?” Tommy frowned.
And before Ted had a chance to answer
Bob cut him off
“Umm, no reason. Come on are we going to go swimming or not?
Chapter 4:
The next day the gang went back to the cave.
Since Bob and Ted weren’t home
“I wonder why Ted, looked so scared when we told him
that we were going to go back until this mystery was solved.”
Cookie told them as they stepped inside
“Yah, he looked like he was about to cry or something.” Daisy added
“I think this may have something to do with it.”
Sammy whispered over to them as he handed them
a faded old picture of a smiling Ted and Bob hugging an older ferret
Who was sitting in between them smiling at the camera
“OMG!” Is that who I think it’s?”
Daisy cried out grabbing the picture away from him
“I think so. And look what’s written in the back of it.”
Sammy told them.
Daisy flipped the picture over and read out loud
IF YOU’RE READING THIS
IT’S PROBABLY TO LATE
“Strange, I wonder what this is all about?” Tommy whistled.
Vicky looked at the picture one more time before she answered him back
“Very strange indeed.
If you look at it, it looks like it’s about ten or more years old.”
“Well, standing around isn’t going to help us solve this.
Let’s go and find Ted and Bob and ask them about it.” Cookie frowned
A few hours later the gang found Ted and Bob collecting shells
“Hey guys.”
“Umm, we’ve to ask you guys a weird question.” Vicky told them
“Okay, shoot.” Bob smiled
“Well, like I said this is going to sound weird.
But we found a picture of you and Ted, while looking inside the cave earlier.
Do either of you’ve any idea on why there would be any pictures in there of you guys.”
She asked them.
The ferret boys just stared with blank looks on their faces
They looked even more confused when they heard what was written in back of the picture
After a few seconds of silence Bob started cracking up
“You guys are kidding, right?”
“No Bob, we’re not we really did find your picture.”
Cookie answered him
“Oh, really so where’s it?” Let me see it.” Bob smirked
“Show it to him Sammy.” Tommy nodded
“I don’t have it. I gave it to Daisy.” Sammy shrugged
“I don’t have it either. I gave it over to- “Daisy began
“Who’s a bonehead and forgot to take it with her.” Vicky finished for her sighing
“Okay, let me see if I got this straight.
You want us to believe that you guys,
found our picture inside a cave we never been inside of
“What is this your idea of some sick joke or you guys,
still trying to make us feel dumb. Cause we haven’t gone with you
Either way it’s not very funny!” Come on Ted,
let’s get out of here I told you they’re just like the rest.”
Bob snorted before he stormed off.
Ted sadly stared at them before he whispered over to them
“You shouldn’t have made him mad.”
Then took off running to join his brother
Chapter 5:
“Wow, did we just step inside the weirdo zone.
What just happened.” Tommy frowned
“I’m just as confused. All I know is that this mystery just got a little stranger.”
Vicky agreed
“Yah, but I’ve a funny feeling it’s going to get a whole lot stranger before we solve it.”
Cookie added
Later that day they returned back to the cave
“Okay, we’ll just grab the picture and then take it over to their house.”
Tommy told them before they went in.
they were not inside for a second when
they heard a strange noise coming from where they found the picture
They walked over to it and found Ted sitting on the floor holding the picture it seemed like he was crying
“Ted?” Vicky cried
“I really like you guys, I tried to warn you to stay away from this place.
But you just had to figure out what was going on.” Ted sobbed.
Vicky sat down next to Ted and softly patted his back
“It’s okay Ted, I hate to see you so upset.
You can tell us what’s wrong it’ll help you feel better and we promise not to judge only to try and help if we can
“What are you doing in here?” She told him
“This is my home. I live here.” Ted softly mumbled
“Huh?” What do you mean you live here?”
Both Tommy and Sammy frowned. Ted took a deep breath then explained
“I shouldn’t have never listened to Bob,
he was always doing dumb things that would get us into trouble.
That day we were only supposed to play in front of our house until my mom finished writing for the day
“Of course Bob, got bored and talked me into exploring this stupid cave.
We weren’t half way through when we suddenly heard a loud rumbling noise
“We got scared and began running back but it was too late.
The cave caved in and died instantly.”
For a long time, none of them spoke nor moved
“So, you’re telling us is that you’re a ghost?”
Tommy frowned breaking the silence. Ted just nodded his head yes
“Oh right, sure, if that’s true.
Then how come we can see you,
or you and your brother can go outside and do the same kind of stuff we can.”
He added.
Ted softly smiled before he answered
“I knew you guys, wouldn’t believe me. Maybe this will change your mind.”
Ted got up smiled, before he started floating in and out through the cave walls
“It took us, a few years and lots of practices.
But once we got the hand of it well, we could do just about anything except for finding our mom
“Which is the only thing I’ve ever wanted was to just see her one more time.
And tell her how sorry I’m….
OMG! He really is a ghost!
They tried to run out of there but they were to scared and confused to even move.
Noticing what was happening Ted giggled
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you. I’m not like my brother
Bob’s the one.”
Chapter 6:
“Bob’s what?” A voice from behind them cried out
“Has my dear little brother been telling tall tales again?”
You guys shouldn’t believe him, he always been a good liar.” Bob snorted
“I’m not a liar!”
You’re the liar, you always been a liar,
and done nothing but get us in trouble!” Ted yelled at him
“You’re crazy Ted,
you’re just mad because your little girlfriend is seeing what a liar...” Bob began
“Stop it!” Vicky yelled. They all looked at her as she was nuts
“Look, I don’t know what’s going on or why we can see you guys.
But I get a funny feeling we were meant to help you cross over or whatever.”
“Okay?”
Noticing that they were still looking at her as if she lost her mind.
Vicky frowned then repeated
“Okay?”
“Yah, yah, okay. But it’s not fair...” Bob began
“Fair?” You’re kidding me right?”
Because of you I never got to see my friends again, or see mom!
“Just because you wanted to explore this stupid cave, this is all your fault!”
Ted yelled at him. He then started crying
“You never cared about anyone expect yourself,
always had to show how big and bad you were. isn’t that right Bob!”
Bob was surprised by his brother’s outburst of anger.
He just stared at him for a long time before he answered him back
“I guess I deserved that. But I hope that you believe me,
I’m sorry Ted, I never meant to hurt you or mom
“I was always just so mad and hated everything,
ever since mom and dad broke up.
And mom always telling me what a screw up I was and how perfect you were.”
“That I stopped caring if I was always the bad one,
the one who was in trouble all the time.
When I talked you into going with me, I secretly planned it I was going to hide and when you ran home to get mom
“And I came out of my hiding place I was going to blame the whole thing on you.
The perfect, always gets good grades one,
so you could know how it felt to be in trouble.”
Bob explained
“You what!” But why?” Ted cried out in disbelief
“I was jealous of you, and wanted you to be in real trouble for once…” Bob began
and before he could finish a sudden bright light filled the cave.
And an older ferret floated out calling out for Bob and Ted
“There you, boys are!”
I’ve been looking for you for a very, very long time.
It’s time for you to come home.” She told them with a big smile on her face
“Mom!” Both Bob and Ted cried out and ran towards her.
But before he reached her. Ted ran back and gave Vicky a kiss on her check
“Thank you, I’ll never forget you.”
Vicky blushed as she answered him back
“Neither will I.”
Within seconds they were gone.
The gang were still confused by what just happened
And just when Cookie was about to speak small pieces of rock started falling down all around them
“We better get out of here before we get caved in here just like Bob and Ted did.”
Tommy cried out.
Minutes later they were outside the cave just in time to see rock after rock fall over the entrance until there was no way in nor out
Chapter 7:
“Wow, did that really just happened?” Sammy asked them.
Vicky put her arm around his shoulder and smiled
“What happened was a beautiful thing just like when we solve one of our cases.
But this time instead of catching the bad guys,
we did something more important we helped a mom find her lost kids
“And helped a couple of brothers learn how to be friends again.
Hopefully now they all can rest in peace.”
