Chapter 14

Katherine knocked on the office door. She was interrupting Dom and Ethan in their work but they didn't mind, they needed a break.

"What is it sweetheart?" Dom asked her lovingly.

"I'm off to get my books. Ethan, are you coming?"

"Um, I was going to finish this first." He pointed to something on his laptop.

"You can do it after you get back. You need to get the books and get started on reading them." Dom told him.

"Alright. I'll take you." He saved the files and turned off his laptop. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

"It's fine. Bring something for dinner please."

Ethan nodded.

Katherine waited until they were driving down the street to ask him about work.

"How do you like it?"

"It's serious and alright. Not something I would've expected to do but I don't mind."

"Good. I'm glad you're okay with it. You look nice the way you're dressed. Kind of reminds me of the pictures of Dom when he was younger."

"I think I'm getting used to it." He glanced down at his grey slacks and light blue colored dress shirt. He loosened the tie lightly. "I really don't like the ties though."

She smiled. "How are things with Avery? I spoke to her yesterday and she said she was going to call you."

He instantly perked up. "She did call me. She talked about her week as I did too. She's having the time of her life."

"Yes I know that but how are things between you too. Do you think there's a possibility?"

"I don't want to keep getting ahead of myself. I don't know but she might come over for the holidays and stay for your wedding. Her friend Ann also wants to visit. As does Adam." He ground his teeth on the last name.

"Are you jealous?"

"A little bit. Avery sent me pictures of them and he's damn good looking."

"Really? How good looking?"

"Check my phone." He took it out of his pocket and gave it to her.

She unlocked it after he gave her the passcode. "Oh wow, he is good looking. Those eyes are really something. You don't have to worry, she doesn't like him like that."

"How do you know?"

"She told me." Katherine grinned. "We talk about those things you know."

"Right, you're girls."

They arrived at the college after half an hour and grabbed the books for their courses. After there they stopped at a home restaurant and bought lunch.

On the way back they listened mostly to the radio.

Juliet's car was parked next to Kerim's truck when they got back to the house.

"I think we should've bought more food." Ethan said as they got out of the car.

"Dominik would've called either of us if they were going to eat." Katherine unlocked the front door.

Juliet was serving food onto two plates. "Hey." She smiled when she saw her. "Dom said you were going to bring food for him."

"We got a few sandwiches. Ethan went to go tell him. What did you do today?"

"We took Precious to the doggy park. Then we bought some ice cream and walked around with her."

"Sounds like you had fun."

"It was alright. I'm just glad that now I don't have to go all the way to my apartment anymore."

"Is it any different than before? You're relationship with Kerim, I mean."

"I think we've gotten closer. It's certainly a little weird living with another person but I think I like it. At least I could get used to it."

"So, do you like have to wash his clothes and stuff?" Katherine got comfortable on a chair.

Juliet followed suit and sat in front of her. "He usually sends his clothes to the cleaners but anything that he doesn't send, he washes himself."

"Who cleans up the room and stuff?"

"We both do. We make the bed together if we wake up at the same time. If not well whoever wakes up late does it. It's all in the teamwork."

"Guess it's going to be that way with me and Dominik."

"You're both are going to do well. If Kerim and I can, why can't you?"

"I'm not worried. I just think it's going to be strange. I've only ever lived with my parents."

"I get it."

The men entered the kitchen. They sat down at the table and started to eat.

"Are you going to stay here while all our parents go to that couples retreat thing?" Juliet asked Katherine.

"Yes, Dominik asked me to."

"What are you going to do Ethan?"

"I'm going to stay at home I guess."

"You're welcome to stay here." Dom suggested. "There's plenty of rooms to choose. That way you won't be alone."

"I'll consider it, thank you."

"Wonder what they're going to be doing." Katherine commented.

"Probably sit in the sun on the cruise and drink. I know that's something my dad would do." Juliet giggled.

"They'll play bingo with the other couples." Ethan contributed.

"I know my dad is going to whine about how much he doesn't like his future son-in-law." Katherine rolled her eyes.

Juliet nodded. "My father will probably join him. At least uncle Ben likes Daniel now, he won't be joining that conversation."

No one said anything else. She looked up to see Dom eating his chips amused. Katherine had the same expression on her face, she was biting her lip trying not to laugh.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Ethan wasn't sure what was going on so he kept on eating like nothing.

"It's nothing Juliet." Kerim frowned at Dom.

"It doesn't seem like nothing."

"It really isn't nothing." Katherine finally composed herself. "You just put Kerim in the future son-in-law group with Dominik."

"I...didn't." Juliet furrowed her brow.

"It was a mistake. Lucifer is going to be bad mouthing me and I know that. That's all you were trying to say." Kerim shrugged.

"Oh...I didn't realize."

"It would've been nice to be planning two weddings at the same time but oh well." Katherine pestered her. "Too bad you're afraid of commitment."

"I'm not afraid of commitment." Juliet countered tartly.

"Right. My mistake."

"You're being sarcastic."

"Of course I am. You're afraid of something, my only guess is commitment. Unless it's something else."

"I'm not going to do this here."

"We won't."

Ethan clicked his tongue. "I think I'm done and I should get back to work."

"Me too." Dom and Kerim both got up. They wanted to get away from the tension eminating from Juliet.

The kitchen was empty in seconds.

"Great, you scared them off." Katherine started picking up the table.

"I scared them? You're the one that started talking about my commitment issues." Juliet glared.

"What is the fear? You think he's going to leave you? Do you feel trapped? These are things girls talk about."

"Well I'm the kind of girl that likes to keep them locked up."

"You are becoming the old Juliet. It's about time but I wouldn't like you not to talk about yourself and what worries you. It helps to get things out."

"I know it does." Juliet calmed down a bit. "I don't exactly know what I'm afraid of. Now that we live together it's like, it's stupid fear. You look excited to be planning your wedding. Kerim looks...he's happy when he's talking about your wedding. I know it's something he wishes and sometimes I think that I might actually be ready to marry him. Then the dread sits in my chest like a huge weight. I can't do it."

"You're too anxious. When the moment is right you'll get an epiphany and say this is what I want. Then it's going to be you dragging Kerim down the aisle." Katherine joked.

Juliet smiled slightly. "I know he'll look killer in a tux."

"And you'll look beautiful in a white dress."

"I can't picture it and that might end up being my epiphany. The moment I see myself in it I'll know that I'm ready to get married."

"Let's finish cleaning up and go visit Delilah. I'm sure she's bored out of her mind. She was going to have an appointment in the morning."

"Alright. We can stop at the bakery close to her condo and buy her some muffins. I think she said something about craving blueberry ones."

Katherine nodded. "She said that."

They cleaned up and then said bye to their men.

Delilah was delighted to see them, especially with a box of muffins in their arms.

She took the box and left the door open for them to walk through.

"Quite the welcoming committee." Juliet chuckled and closed the door.

"We brought you blueberry muffins." Katherine told Delilah as they went into the kitchen.

"Thank you guys. I've been dying for some and I forgot to buy any on my way home."

"How was the doctor's visit?" Juliet asked.

"It was fine. I'm healthy, the baby's healthy. All the same as last time." Delilah popped a blueberry in her mouth. She sounded nonchalant but she was worried.

She was worried that the same thing that happened last time could happen again.

"This isn't the last time." Katherine sympathetically rubbed her arm.

"I know but I can't help it. I'm so nervous."

"If you keep getting nervous that's not good for the baby. Think of names, of how you're going to decorate it's room, what cute clothes you're going to buy. Anything to put your mind at ease." Juliet smiled warmly. "Think of all that love the baby is going to grow up with."

Delilah smiled. "I do think of that. Daniel talks to my stomach all time. I can't wait for the bump to show and wear the cute shirts."

"See, those are happy thoughts." Katherine encouraged. "I can't wait until I'm pregnant myself."

"Already? You haven't even started college." Juliet was surprised.

"I know and I want to do that first. Once that's over Dominik and I are going to talk about starting a family or work. He's not getting any younger. I don't think he wants to be too old to have kids." Katherine giggled.

"That's true. Dom is going to be a great father when the time comes."

"When are you going to go dress shopping?" Delilah changed the subject.

"I was thinking of doing it before I start classes. That means we'll do it in a couple of weeks. Kerim made appointments. I've been thinking of letting him come. He could have a great perspective since he's helping me with the theme."

"What's the theme?"

"Blue orchids. It's the only flower I thought was beautiful and not taken." Katherine playfully glared at Juliet. "Kerim didn't let me look at roses because apparently the white ones were his."

"What about red ones?"

"Delilah don't even go there. Dom sent Juliet red roses a couple of times."

Juliet sighed. "You kept the first ones and the second ones died. They meant nothing."

"I know but still, he wouldn't let me. So right now the only flower we've chosen is the orchid. We'll get into more details down the line."

"I can't wait to look at dresses. It's my favorite thing of weddings."

"When have you ever helped look for a dress?" Juliet shook her head at Delilah.

"I see that show, 'Say yes to the Dress'. It's emotional and heart warming."

"I love that show." Katherine agreed. "The dresses are amazing sometimes and they always help you find the perfect one. Well most of the time. Sometimes the brides can't chose. They're that good."

"I like watching 'Monsters inside me'. Now that is a show worth watching."

"Eww. I don't think parasites inside someone is very exciting."

"How would you know? You might have one from all the traveling you did." Juliet teased her.

Katherine made a face.

"Don't listen to her. Juliet always did like the weird shows."

"I absolutely love them. Kerim does too which is another reason of why I love him."

"As if you needed any more reasons." Delilah threw her balled up muffin wrapper at her.

"Hey! That goes in the trash."

"Sorry, I can't bend over to get it. I'm pregnant." Delilah pouted.

"That only works when you have a huge belly." Katherine laughed.

Juliet picked up the piece of trash and put it in the garbage can. "What should we do?"

"I want some tea now that I ate my muffin. We always watch television but I would like to go out or something."

"Let's go to starbucks and to the mall. We can look for my wedding shoes." Katherine put out there.

"I could use looking for a comfortable pair of sandals." Delilah agreed.

"I am dying for a green tea. I say we go." Juliet nodded.

"Come on then. We're on the mission to find the shoes and some tea for our thirst."

"You make an adventure out of everything." Delilah grabbed her purse, phone and keys. "I like it. Whatever kids we have are going to love you."

"I pity your kids."

"Why?" Katherine glanced back at Juliet.

"Because they're going to have you as mothers. You're going to drive them crazy."

They all laughed at the truth in her words.
