Chapter 30

Avery curled up against Ethan's strong naked body. She licked her dry lips and tried to catch her breath.

He kissed her forehead tenderly and breathed in the smell of her hair. He loved the shampoo she used. It gave off a flowery smell.

"I've been wanting to talk to you about something." She said once she was able.

"What is it about?"

"I'm thinking of moving back home."

He stilled not sure if he had heard right. "Home as in my home?"

"Yes."

He moved to be able to see her face. "What about becoming a pastry chef?"

"I'm still going to do it only I'm going to transfer to a school down there. I already checked them out on the internet and while I'm there after thanksgiving I was going to visit the schools. Ann is also going to check them out in case she changes her mind."

"This is going to be amazing. I can't wait."

"I was also thinking that I don't want to move in with my parents again."

"What do you want to do then?"

"I want to get an apartment...with you."

He raised his brows in surprise. "Are you serious?"

"Yes."

"I think I'm going to lose my mind."

"If you don't want to it's okay." She furrowed her brow.

"No it's not that. I'm saying it because you're going to be with me in the same city and we're going to be living together. This is great." He kissed her all over her face.

She giggled. "Ethan! Stop!"

"Sorry I'm just so happy. This is really going to happen."

"Well it does depend on the fact that I have to find a good school."

"I love you so much."

"I love you too and I think we're moving in the right direction. I want to put our past behind us. Last summer, the pregnancy and Angel." Her eyes softened. "She was the only good thing that came out of that and I'm sure her parents are wonderful. I want to wrap it up and put it away. I want us to start our future together."

"I completely agree. I will never forget going through that labor with you and seeing her. I'm sure that I'm going to love the children that we have in time."

"I'm going to love them too because we're going to have them when we're both ready."

He kissed her softly. Everything that they were planning they were planning together and it was sure to work out this time.

He wasn't going to be stupid like he was before and throw this amazing life he could have with Avery.

He was going to spend his whole life making her happy.

"Then you're in agreement with my plans."

"Of course." He nodded.

"Good. I can go to sleep at peace now." She sighed happily and closed her eyes.

"You always sleep peacefully. You're always snoring." He joked.

"If you snore it means you're not sleeping peacefully." She giggled. "And I do not snore."

"You do. I'm going to record you one night."

"You better not Ethan."

"Or what? Are you going to hit me?" He chuckled.

"No. I just won't move in with you." She forced a serious face but her eyes were traitors. She was only kidding.

He narrowed his eyes and started tickling her.

"No! Wait! I surrender!" She laughed uncontrollably.

He stopped tickling but stayed over her. Her eyes glittered with happiness.

Since they had long stopped using condoms after they both had check ups and she had gotten on birth control he entered her bare.

She gasped and closed her eyes.

"Do you really surrender?" He whispered and leaned down to kiss her jaw.

Her answer was to lock her legs around his waist.

He grinned and made love to her.

"If I got locked away and we lost it all today. Tell me honestly would you still love me the same." Ann sang as she made her favorite pastries.

She rolled the dough and then stirred the strawberry preserves.

Adam came out of his room putting on a shirt.

"Don't tell me you're making those for Ethan." He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah. He said he's never tried them before and it helps me practice. You should try making something for him."

"I'd probably poison him."

"Don't be such a bad sport. He loves Avery and I know that's why you have respect for him."

He grumbled. "I know. Got to give him credit for treating her right. What I don't get is if he was so perfect, why did they break up in the first place?"

"I don't know either and I don't pry. Something about that past makes Avery shut off. I'd rather just give her the space she needs."

He nodded and watched his sister put the pastries together. "You're still considering moving back to the US?"

"I am. I think I've had enough of paris. There's so much..love."

He snorted. "There's love everywhere."

"I know. Guess I'm just looking for an excuse to go back home. It'll be only a couple of hours away from mom and dad's. We'll be able to visit on the weekends." She tried to convince him.

"We'll see."

"I wish Avery had a friend that would reel you in. Too bad that Katherine's getting married. That girl is hot."

"What if she had turned out like Avery and not liked me?"

"There's more girls." Ann grinned.

He sighed. He always got the girl but with Avery it had turned out that it would be the first time he was refused.

"We'll be going home for thanksgiving and then spend the week of the wedding with Avery and her family. It'll give us a chance to get to know the city. See our surroundings and maybe we'll like it or maybe not. Think about it."

"I will give it a chance for you."

"Thanks for always being there for me." Her smile was a lot less enthusiastic but she meant it.

"How can I not. You're my little sister."

"By four minutes." She rolled her eyes. "You know as much as I appreciate Avery's friendship...I can't tell her what really happened to me. I don't think I could face the shame again."

He went over to her and put his arm around her. "Avery doesn't look like the type to shame someone. She's genuinely nice."

"I know." She breathed deeply and wiped the tears away. "It's just that I sometimes feel like I can't let myself be her best friend if I don't tell her. Yet..I don't know."

"One day you will find the courage to tell her. I can see you guys becoming really good friends, just like she is or was with Katherine. I'm not sure how that's going."

"They're getting there. The spa weekend helped. Avery's happy and can't wait to hang out with her again. You're not much of an ass when you're nice." She elbowed him. She was feeling better.

"I'm not an ass." He smiled. "Well sometimes but the ladies can't get enough of me."

"You're so egotistical. I really don't know how you get any women." She stuck the pastries in the oven.

"I can be charming too. How do you get them?"

"Same way only I treat them nice. It also helps when I'm a girl and I know what my partner likes."

"You know for any guy, two girls at it is a turn on. It's kind of gross when it's my sister getting it on. You have ruined threesomes for me forever."

"Good." She laughed. "Now go get dressed with clean clothes. We're going to have dinner over at Avery's."

"Of course we're having dinner over there." His tone was sarcastic.

"Don't be a grouch and get ready. If you attempted to be nice you might actually be able to be friends with Ethan."

"He and I will never be friends."

"Never say never." She sang as he went to his bedroom.

"Dinner as always was delicious." Ann helped Avery wash the dishes.

Adam and Ethan were in the living room on opposite ends of the couch. They were both watching the cooking show but refused to attempt to make conversation.

"I convinced Adam to have an open mind when we go home."

"That's great. I would love you guys near. I've come to cherish you." Avery beamed at her.

"I've come to care for you a lot too Avery. You know you're the first girl to ever be my friend, other than girlfriends of course. If you can even call them that."

"I thought you said you had friends back home."

"Adam and I do but they're all boys. You know the guys you spend time playing video games and gorging on pizza. The only real friend that was a girl, at least I thought was a real friend was you know who."

"Right. I remember her."

"So you're my first girl friend since her. You're great."

"Thank you."

"I'm going to hand out the pastries or rather make them get over here." Ann opened up the cardboard box. "Come and get them boys."

Ethan and Adam quickly got up. They both made a grab for the pastries and stopped when they could only do it by taking turns.

"You can get one first." Ethan was being polite.

"Oh no, you go first man. I can see how badly you want one."

"I'm fine. I'm not as desperate as you."

Adam opened his mouth to retaliate when Ann stuffed a pastry in there.

"For godsakes do you both have to fight over everything?" She huffed.

Adam narrowed his eyes at Ethan as he ate his goodie.

Ethan took one from the box and ate it slowly, keeping up with the starring.

Avery shook her head and grabbed one. "These are my favorite things you make." She decided on just ignoring the two guys.

"Thank you. I'll pass on the recipe if you give me your cinnamon roll one."

"Gladly."

They started chatting and soon forgot about the boys who were still at it with their staring contest.
