Chapter 5

Katherine knocked lightly on Kerim's door. She had heard Juliet arrive with him the night before. She was going to go to her house and felt like she needed a calming presence with her.

Juliet opened the door slightly. "Katherine?"

"What are you..." A slow smile spread on her face. "You decided to be with him." She stated.

"I did. I love him and I'm going to go talk to my dad right now. He's probably furious that I stayed the night over here so I was wondering if you could come with me. I mean if you're not working."

"I'm not working today. Let me get dressed and I'll meet you downstairs in five minutes. Does Dom know you're going?"

"No, I didn't want to wake him and I didn't want him to insist to go with me. The last time didn't go so well."

"Okay. I'll be down in a bit."

"Thank you so much."

Katherine went downstairs and got an apple from the kitchen. She was starving but for now that would have to do.

In exactly five minutes Juliet was downstairs and ready.

They went in Katherine's car. She was nervous. It was early and she knew her father would still be home.

She parked in her driveway and took a deep breath.

"It's going to be alright. You have the support of the rest of your family and all of us."

"Thank you."

They got out of the car and into the house. Michael was at the dining table in his uniform drinking coffee. He frowned when he saw Katherine.

"Nice hour to arrive at your house."

"It didn't bother you before when I used to spend my nights with him. I also spent months away from home."

"I couldn't stop you then because you were of age. It was also different, he didn't want to marry you then."

"I would think that it was better to get married than to sleep around. Anyway, I'm not here to argue about that. I'm going to be with him and I'm going to marry him. I know you don't accept but this is my life."

"You're making a mistake. Marriage is for life, it's not 'let's try it out and see if it works'."

"I know that and it will be my mistake but I seriously doubt that it's going to be one. What I feel for him is a lot different than what I have ever felt. I can't wait to wake up in the morning and see his face lying next to me. I get anxious waiting for his phone calls. I want to spend my days with him. Everytime he kisses me or touches me...butterflies burst in my stomach. I know I love him because this is what love feels like."

His jaw clenched.

"Didn't you feel that way with mom? Isn't that how you knew you were in love with her?"

"It's how I felt." They looked up to see Kailie leaning in the doorway. "I can see and hear the love she has for Dominik. I'm on her side. I want to see my Kathy marry the man she loves. I don't want her to ruin her life by not taking this chance. I don't want to see her later on marry someone just because they pair well. Everyone deserves love and happiness. If you're against that then you're pushing your daughter away."

"I don't like him."

"I know that dad but you're going to have to get over it. He's not into the kind of business he was before. Other than that there's nothing else wrong with him. Now, I just wanted to tell you this since I'm still living here."

"I'll keep talking to your father. You go do what you want to do." Kailie smiled at her.

Katherine nodded. "I love you dad but I will not break up with Dominik again over you."

She and Juliet left her parents. She felt a relief and at the same time a dread. She wanted her father to understand that Dominik was the one for her and there would never be anyone else.

When they got back to his house he was in the kitchen making breakfast.

"I'm going to go wake up Kerim. I can't promise it will be quick. We'll most likely take a while to come back down." Juliet headed for the stairs.

"I thought you had left me again." Dom joked.

Katherine sighed. "I needed to talk to my dad."

"It didn't go well?"

"Kind of, I don't know. There was no yelling though." She went over to him and wound her arms around him. She laid her head on his chest and listened to his heart beat.

He rubbed her back in a comforting motion. "I have something for you." He reached into his pocket and took out her ring. "I forgot to return it to you when we got back yesterday."

"We were busy doing other things." She turned red.

He grinned remembering what those things had been. He slipped the ring on her finger then pulled it up to his lips. He grazed her knuckles with a light kiss.

"I'm starving. I ate an apple before we left but what you made smells delicious."

"It's only eggs and bacon." He let her go and got some plates.

She served orange juice for the both of them and then the sat down at the table.

Juliet and Kerim came in as they were finishing their breakfast.

"I hope there's food left." Juliet was now wearing a pair of yoga pants and one of Kerim's shirts.

"There is, all you have to do is heat if up." Dom smiled at her.

Kerim served himself some coffee. "Good morning Katherine."

She stared at him as did Dom. Juliet didn't pay any mind.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Kerim arched his brow.

"You always call me Jailbait. This is the first time you've said my name." Katherine gave him a wide grin.

"Well you're going to be family now so I might as well call you by your name." He shrugged.

"I think I'm going to miss being called Jailbait." She joked.

"I'll only call you that on special occasions then." He quirked up the corner of his mouth. "So when's the wedding?"

"Katherine wanted a winter wedding and I agree." Dom answered.

"She also wants to get married under the stars. Don't forget about that." Juliet chimed in as she sat at the table.

"Right, thanks for reminding me. I'll look for the perfect place then. We can't have everyone out in the middle of the night." He chuckled.

"I'll help you look." Kerim told him. "Have you given her your present yet?"

Dom gave him a look.

"What present?" Katherine furrowed her brow.

"You should see in the garage." Kerim encouraged. "You're going to love it. Your dad might hate it though."

She was tempted to go see but she wanted to know why Dom hadn't said anything. "Dominik?"

"I bought something before we arrived back home and now I don't know how you're going to feel about it. You can always accept after we're married though. Whatever you wish."

"I want to see this present." Juliet piped up and stood. "Come on, I'll go with you."

Katherine slowly got up and followed Juliet. Precious bound down from the stairs when she saw them heading for one of the doors. She clearly thought she was going outside.

When Juliet opened the door she stopped and instead waited inside. For some reason she hated going into the garage.

"Ooh this is nice." Juliet walked around the white bmw convertible. "I might get me one but in black."

"Oh my god."

"I know right. Do you like it?"

"I love it but that isn't the problem."

"It's too much, I get it. He did give you the option to accept it until you're married. The way I see it is that you are his fiance, you're as good as married."

"A lot can happen from now until the end of this year."

Juliet opened the car door. "You absolutely have to see inside. It's all leather." She got in the passenger seat and moaned. "It's so soft. Why the hell have I not traded in my car?"

"You have the money." Katherine walked around to the driver's door and opened it. The inside was black leather and smelled like it. She sat down and bit back her own moan. "You're so right, this is heaven."

"I know. I'm going to make a trip to the dealership today and look at some cars. Don't worry, I won't get the same model as you." Juliet chuckled.

"I wouldn't mind." Katherine laughed. "How can I say no to this?"

"Don't if you don't want to. I think the important thing is you do you and not care what anyone else thinks. I'm your friend and I say go for it. I'm sure Delilah is going to say the same thing, even probably your mom."

"She would. I was starting to have problems with my car."

"Maybe Dominik remembered that and thought this would be a nice surprise."

"I don't know."

"You can think about it. When you are ready just use it."

"I think I'll do that. Let's stay here for a bit longer and just breathe it in."

"I completely agree." Juliet closed her eyes.

Katherine did the same. "I could fall asleep here."

They stayed there a few more minutes and then went back inside. Dom and Kerim had picked up the kitchen.

Juliet's abandoned plate was now on the counter. She sat down and started eating again.

"Well?" Dom asked Katherine.

"I love it but I'm still not sure if I should use it. I need to debate that a bit more."

"Alright. There's something else I want to show you."

"Oh please nothing else that's expensive." She pouted.

Kerim clicked his tongue. "It was and I hope you like it. I think it would be more expensive to dig it all up and change it."

"Show me what he's talking about." She looked at Dom.

"Come on, it's out in the back of our land." He offered her his hand and she took it.

"I can assure you that you're going to love it." Juliet winked at her. "I know I did."

Dom took her out the back door. They went past the garden they had there. Their back yard was huge in her opinion.

There were a few trees and then they came to another clearing.

She gasped in delight. "It's a garden like we saw when we first started on our trip."

"Yes." He grinned, glad that she was happy.

"It's beautiful." They walked down the small road around it. The flowers were beautiful, he even had ordered some small structures to be put up. They resembled the japanese lavish houses.

"I absolutely love this."

"It's our own private japanese garden."

"Does it never end?" They had been walking for a bit and yet it seemed like they weren't closer to the entrance or exit.

"It does. I wanted it to almost resemble the one we saw. Obviously that one was way more acres than what we have."

They came to where they had entered.

"Thank you Dominik."

"You're welcome. I want you to know that this is also a gift for me. I love remembering the best times we had on our trip and this one was one of them."

She squeezed his hand and they went back to the house.

Juliet was coming down the stairs dressed to leave. "Did you love it?"

"Yes." Katherine gushed.

"Good. I'm off to look at cars with Kerim."

Kerim came out the office with his keys. "Thanks a lot Dom, I'm going to have to up your gift." He told him playfully.

"I can buy my own car thank you." Juliet said hautily.

"Fine but I'm buying you something." Kerim put his arm around her and pulled her in for a tender kiss.

Dom rolled his eyes. "Have a good time." He pulled Katherine up the stairs.

"What are we going to do while they're gone?" She giggled beside him.

"Can't you guess." He pulled her up into his arms when they reached the top.

She squealed and clung on to him as he took her to his bedroom.
